Gm hasn't built much past 06 or 07 worth owning unless you out a crapload of money into it.

As far as oval vs bowtie.... well, old stuff I'll go along with the predecessor in interest to the current Government Motors. One problem is Ford has Godzilla and General Millenial has.... no answer.
GM absolutely lost the plot back around 08 and its been trucking downhill since. I've never owned a Ford so I haven't formed a hatred for one yet.

GMPP LSX Engine has been around for a while.... just sayin.

Have you worked with any?
Actually, back around 2016 I ordered a base gm 290hp crate 350 off ebay. What showed up at the house was the lsx 525 crate motor.

I sold it.

If I'm in a truck, towing, ripping out trees/stumps, using it for truck things and not being an urban cowboy wannabe who likes to diddle the rear tailgate 20 different ways for easy rear end access, the lsx is inferior.

Had gm gone a generation or two further with the 8100, they mightve had something. But they didn't. You need an engine with massive torque early, and, flat.

I'll concede that if you spend enough time and money you can make anything capable, but that's not the point is it? Shouldnt need to spend $10-15k in parts, labor, and tuning to make a truck usable as a truck and not just a passenger car jacked in the air.

Soooo you haven't work with any. I have.
It's not a utility engine, it's a drag racing engine, lets understand the purpose here.

No thanks, you can do far better for less if you don't need that 'ls' branding
For you, booboo.. 🙂

Exactly. We're talking f150s, silverados, Sierra, and ram trucks, and that's what the banter has been about when you mentioned the gmpp line of ls motors. (Godzilla is the medium duty truck motor for the super duty ford..Ford... not a race motor, although, it could be used as such because it's so stout)

So, yes, please understand the purpose and remember what we're talking about 😉

I've driven slugs grom GM with the ls. Plenty of rentals including 3/4 tons and 1 tons from enterprise truck rental - not their passenger car outlets. Plenty of experience trying to use it for work which it couldn't handle, because it was CRAP. But sometimes I rent with a damage waiver when I know we're going to abuse the heck out of something Also, as an aside, we inherited the zl1 camaro out in the garage which I hate as a vehicle and don't use, because, it used to be the step dads. So it sits because it's another gm steaming pile of automotive engineering garbage compared to our mustangs.

The ls as gm sends it out the door is pretty useless for work, which is what trucks are for, and I'll take that as you conceding that point. And now we can circle back to where the conversation left off when you made a jump to race-only motors without any connection to what we were knee-deep in flinging mud over at the time 😀

Kid up the street has a Godzilla in a newer Mustang, why my mind went there first. I don't keep up with them enough, if I remember right they have it in a truck from the factory, and the numbers were not that impressive.

Truck wise, the GM 8100 was a gas and oil burner with very little aftermarket. I consider that a turd. Had torque, I've used them, but turds. Tune helped.

You haven't worked with many of them, 3/4 ton GM with the 6.0l will hold it's own. Been there, done it.

I refer to my previous posted meme. 🙂
