What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2023]

I could've sworn there was a "What did you buy for your non g body project today" thread...
anyway, i spent an hour or so at a local yard and got two eq tape units for my k1500. The one that worked was from this absolute freakin unit
Super clean (for a midwest truck), with grey buckets and console, both keys in the cupholder, every wire labeled, brand new alternator in the passenger seat (might go back and snag that), and meh condition tail lights. Front clip is gone with a crumpled yellow fender in the bed so I assume p/o rear ended someone. My guess is it was a shop project that got liquidated. Also on the GMT400 forum i found out you can access a "LOUD" and DNR functions on those weird 88-94 radios. Volume up+fader up for DNR, vol down and fade down for loud.

Talk about a clean pair of seats. Looks like no rust too.

Buy that steering wheel and console to flip on eBay. Those are money.

Do you need a better pair for yours? I beleive I have a set of TYC's that I never used on my '96 step side when I had it.

Took a moment to re-revisit the whole turn signal upgrade thing that I had been working on for the G-10 Van and swapped out the clear Philips 84176 LED bulbs for a pair of -A Amber ones. Factory Stock for 1980 was a clear 1157 bulb in the turn signal socket but try tellling that to a cop that was barely born before the turn of the millenia. All you get is techno-geek computer references because they have no clue about age and applications for anything older than their parents.

Still have to slide under it and swap out the existing O-2 sensor for the unit that matches my A/FR gauge. As of right now it looks like I have enough harness to get down to the pipe without putting any stress on the wiring. I also still have to gin up a hanger for the harness to keep it off the engine but have all the bits for that already in hand.

Most of the diversion here is due to having to finish the yard work and get as much of the water in the rain barrel decanted and moved downstairs for storage in the basement tank. I did manage to solve?? the leaking barrel valve problem. It is doing another standing pressure test as I write this. The repair involved creating a whole new inner connection into which to screw the outer valve body, and then adding a pair of nylon flat washers made from an old bondo filler applicator and slathering the whole assembly with Permatex Black Adhesive/Sealer and letting it set overnight. The washers both took up some slack so that the valve could get tightened down securely and provided some flexibility so that the curve of the barrel body and the brass valve could sync up to each other. Why the mfger had to put the hole for the valve on the lower curve of the tank is beyond me but there it was.

Apparently the weatherheads are having a meltdown about a Colorado Low coming in across the Dakotas and heading for the lake. Supposedly Montana got gifted with 2 feet or so snow up in the hills; deep enough that the area's tire shops were having a major run on winter tire installs, one saying that it had done 70 or more in a 24 hour period. Just hope that the truckers have their chains ready and loaded into the work boxes or there will be a lot of semi-rigs facing major grief on the highways.

So, my perusing for a trailer(s) have taken a strange turn. I got sent a lead on a a used unit. Not sure what I think. A dealer is selling it, but it's got a 60/60 warranty - 60 feet and 60 seconds.

For the price I think I could throw a couple grand in upgrades in it, but, it's got a couple negatives:

- used of course, it's a 98 pace shadow gt
- flat roof
- no over axle escape hatch
- sliding side windows (people see what you're hauling)

It's also got some positives:

- 30 footer
- tri-axle, 5200# each
- tie-down tracks on floor
- cheap craftsman tool chest built-in with cabinets
- on board air compressor
- 4 of the 6 tires are new, all on aluminum mags
- interior finished/lightly insulated, with lights and multiple air hatches.

Being a dealer they can 30-day tag me home.

Don't have a good pulse on what a unit like that ought to go for.

The triaxle may also be tricky short term with the driveway, but, I plan on moving soon so I'm not making a decision based on getting in and out easily.

If anyone has thoughts on value and/or overall opinions these brand trailers I'm all ears.
