Decided it was time to treat my abused and neglected trailer to some TLC… she was in bad need of some serious maintenance and upgrades. New LED tail lights, side marker and clearance lights, with a new junction block and new 7way plug. New wheel bearings/races and seals, New shackles, bushings, equalizers and hardware. I also picked up a set of 70’s style Olds dog dish caps, I’m sure they are repops but cool as heck, and pulled the beauty rings off my Impala just to see how it looks. Apparently I don’t have pictures of the lights. Next up is adding a center mount top wind trailer jack and tongue box for the winch and storage. Maybe someday, I’ll make ramp storage under the trailer.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

James

And that's why I love me some torsion axles.

I’ve been meaning to replace those for a few years… it was just never idle long enough to do them.

I have one of these open deck units in my now near future. Thinking I'll buy it brand new though. How long did it take to waller it out that bad? And was it halfway there already when you bought it?

I’ve had the trailer about 15 years didn’t notice they were getting bad until I put the new tires on about 2 years ago and I don’t recall if it’s significantly worse now or not.
The trailer itself is at least 20 - 25 years old.

That's good, so it's not an every 5 years thing.

Last weekend I Fluid Filmed under the Lacrosse. I only had maybe a half gallon left, and I was able to coat most of the underside and still had a bit of leftover to spray on the truck.

Tuesday I decided to investigate the steering column noise. The lower bearing was shot and it is NLA. I attempted to disassemble it to retrieve the bearing part and wound up destroying the plastic housing. It was a non-serviceable part, I knew that might happen. So yesterday I went to the junkyard and got a whole column with a good bearing and swapped my steering wheel and ignition cylinder over. No more noise.

2 outta 3 converter bolts were finger tight. No longer sounds like a rod about to blow out of the side of the block.

I bought these Snap on tool boxes used 48 years ago. I figured it was time to give them some TLC. I got to thinking that for several years the boxes and the tools were my biggest asset. They served me well. I have to order a couple runners.

PIcked up a bobbin of 16 ga and another of 14 ga in red wire. The wiring harness for the AFR gauge wants a relay included in the circuit to deliver clean voltage to the gauge. That includes a harness specific in line fuse. Thing with the inline fuse holders is that they come with 16 ga leads and I am thinking about bumping that up to 14 so snip and clip time.
