What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2023]

The 2025 Calendars are HERE. Two different editions, two different sizes, and a digital package!! Starting at $12.97US
are you going to share the list or post it for those who asked?
LOL. Well, it's not final yet, but, I've also got the slight issue of blacking out ones I was going to hold onto for now. But, yes, I'll share it. I guess an off-topic forum post? It'll be Looooong.

Meanwhile, I just added a wiper system motor and pump training material, but, it says must be approved before publicly available?

Someone wanna test this link, see if you see it, and, maybe just a mod needs to approve it?

Edit: I tried for a while to post the list. It kept saying too long, or go for under 10,000 characters. Even cut down to 75 rows out of the 480 row list it failed. So I've got to work on that....

Day four on the LaCrosse. Metal is all welded in. PITA. Encountered some adversities- cold garage, welder throwing (multiple) temper tantrums, work lights breaking, etc. I'm minimally concerned with cosmetics as this all gets hidden behind the rocker panel covers. The right rear panel was tough because there really wasn't anything to weld to on the underside of the car. I tacked it in a few spot and smeared some fiberglass filler around it. About all I could do with it without cutting a bunch more of the rocker out.

Chasing leaks on the GYP again. For some reason the Boat Life Life Caulk that is normally indestructible, just crumbled after only two years. I had to scrape it all out and start again. This time I will start with the Permatex flow-able silicone leak sealer, then top it of with some silicone caulk. I had to yank the seat so the carpets could drain. IMG_0606.JPGIMG_0603.JPG

Replaced the run capacitor on my house AC Condensor Unit that went out a couple days ago.

$12.67 fix that took 10 min.. don't even want to know how much one would pay for a service call on that.

Picked up some material on Friday for the trailer: a 12' stick of 11ga 2x3, a 12.5' stick of 2x2x1/8" aluminum, a 24' stick of .060" wall 1x1, and I had a leftover 19'ish stick of 1x1 kicking around. Yesterday I cut it up and built a floor.

No pics, but I painted a sheet of plywood to match this and let it dry overnight. Today I zapped the plywood to the frame, cut up the 2x3, and backed the trailer up to the garage. I've never tried this before and to my surprise it didn't drag at all. I was ready to put it in 4lo and send it up the driveway if it came to it so the welder would reach.

Yeah I blocked half the road, tough $h!t. Now it was time to tack in the frame for it.

That 2x3 is centered under the tires of my Camaro, Corvette, or any other similarly wide vehicle that pulls in. If you haven't guessed what it is I'm making. . .

It's an under floor storage bin. Centered between the axles, should be able to lose 100#+ off the very front of the trailer. As it is now, tongue weight doesn't change much with/without a car as I load them as far back as they'll fit. I get a bit of polar movement when connected to the 1500, so this hopefully will help with that. Sadly I won't have enough 2x3 to put under where I park the car. It has slowly sagged the plywood floor as the best place to park seems to put me dead between 2 cross members. The remainder of the design is still fluid, we'll see what I come up with for more supports and walls in the next couple evenings.

So been busy lately haven’t been on much. Here is the reason. A few weeks ago clipped a deer on the way home in my daily. Can you say INSTANT RAGE! So here is the damage
Pretty good hit. Found another car that was the same color (Again lol). Started working on it.

Meanwhile, in other news,

I suspect many of these blue-state governments will have increased standards for rust going forward in a push to get more ICE vehicles off the roads and force EV adoption.

You saw the same things, creating inspections excuses, to push against older less fuel & emissions efficient cars and trucks, so, it'll likely intensify as a new means to an end
Was just talking to a buddy yesterday at his party about the cash for clunkers and his involvement at the dealership. He said there was a handful of motors that even pouring the liquid in them to kill them still wouldn't die, he said the trailblazer 4.2 and one of the Fords as well as a couple others I can't remember

So I got pretty deep and even had to weld on a fender support. The last picture is as far as I got. Only needed to hook up radiator hose’s and she would be running. Then I found out that I actually put comprehensive insurance on it. Stopped here and filed a claim.

So I was just open and honest with the insurance company. Told them I had started repairs and that I used to work in the auto body field. I had pictures along every step of disassembly. They were impressed with how well documented it was. So it was a total loss. I had thought about buying it back, but it had 202k. It ran great, but the computer started acting up, and the engine or trans were probably the next thing to go. Thanks to the used car market the offer I got was amazing. Let’s just say higher than 3k but less than 5k.

So talked with Mrs. Told her I wanted a truck or 4wd SUV. Looked at a few things nothing really promising. Then my brother in law said he seen an old Tahoe or Suburban around the corner with a for sale sign. Ran over with wife and checked it out.
