So I was just open and honest with the insurance company. Told them I had started repairs and that I used to work in the auto body field. I had pictures along every step of disassembly. They were impressed with how well documented it was. So it was a total loss. I had thought about buying it back, but it had 202k. It ran great, but the computer started acting up, and the engine or trans were probably the next thing to go. Thanks to the used car market the offer I got was amazing. Let’s just say higher than 3k but less than 5k.
A perk of the market. Last August when I opted to total the '14 Silverado due to supply delays I got $22K for a $16K truck. Sucked that the '15 Silverado that should of been $20K was $30K.

This thing was CLEAN!!! No rust on most of the body. Climbed under it no rust on frame or floor, one rocker has a few pin holes but no rot. Interior is ok, needs a deep clean and the leather seats have a few rips as they as they all do. Runs great. De-coded the service tag and she has 3.73 gears and a posi in the rear. Already collecting parts. Have a used hood that’s the same color ( I got lucky it was local!) picked up some chrome wheels and the guy gave me 3 17in wheels with ok tires for free! Just wanted them out of the garage. New headlights are already installed with LED bulbs. I love this thing. Nick named it T-Money, T for Tahoe, money because it’s green. Lol. More to come!

nice find! reminds me of the '99 Suburban I had about 6 yrs ago. in case you didn't know, between 95 and 99 there were a bunch of changes to the engine/transmission every year. if you have to get parts, make sure you get the right ones and look up the changes they made.

Thanks for the heads up.

I think 96+ was all the same in that body (minus the one piece bell 97+), but 95 was a one off year for sure.

Well it is back in one piece. Paint needs buffed in a bad way and I'm not sure if I can find a matching gold/silver pinstripe, if anyone has a recommendation for where to find it, let me know. It needs to come back for the intake gaskets to be replaced and to have four tires put on but overall I'm happy with it.

Exactly. Any of them 1996-2005 will work. 1995 was an oddball.

Finished up my 2002 Yukon Denali exhaust manifold bolts and studs, along with a fuel filter and others. Now I have the 2006 Uplander AWD in the shop again because the alternator took a sh*t. And its a mission to change, you have to pull the cowl trim, wiper transmission, battery and washer fluid bottle out, along with removing the dogbones and rotating the engine forward to get the alternator out!

What year was that car again Joe?

It may be borderline as to whether any of my junk around here lists parts for it or not, but, sometimes ebay guys just list 'decal #4679832' or similar without caring to look up the original application.

One of these books may have a part number for you. Or may not.

Other than that, may need to make friends with a hand pinstriper, comes in handy for the Skylark too
