What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2023]

Step away from us for now & enjoy this time with your grandfather. We all will be he later when you need us.
It's alright, the house was very crowded, all 8 kids and lots of the grandkids. Everyone was cycling in and out. He passed late last night. Quietly and peacefully.
So for about the last 3 weeks I’ve been bouncing from Dr. appointments and working on my sister’s 2003 F150- 7700 series supercab. We had a body shop and friend replace the inner and outer rockers🙄. That being done, I started on the rear frame, fuel tank, brake lines, rear shocks, EVAP rubber hoses, and putting on a “ better “ bed out of Georgia. ( That being a fiasco unto itself!).
I know people will probably not be happy with my choices on some things I did in the future ( me being one when I have to work on it again). Here are pictures
I love every bit of this and I want to see more of it.
Having one for joesregalproject 's grandfather, and family.
Appreciate it brother. He did like Glenlivet. Drink one for Mike.

Johnny goes red, black, double black, gold, green, platinum, blue.

I've had all but green and double black, never knew double black existed. Gold and Platinum were nothing to write home about. Of those that I've had it pretty much goes red, black, blue. Red is bland, but there's nothing offensive about it. I feel like black punches above its price point, and blue is pretty damn tasty but they ain't givin it away.

That's the best way to go, surrounded by everyone and not alone.

Exactly. I'll buy the black and sip on that. Red is the lower end, not as refined but you can drink it. The blue I'm not in that tax bracket enough to splurge..

In the LS1 Fbodies, that's your 1998-2002 V8 Camaro & Trans Am, the 4-pin connector going to the alternator had one little 18ga wire in it. I've seen many break as soon as you try to unplug it to do any work. I would splice in a 16ga or a 14ga, and pin in 2 more wires on each side of it like 12" long. Then tape them all together to add strength. I used to build them harnesses so I've got a bunch of connectors laying around, the pins are the same. The small tools come in handy to pop them out and in.
It's not so much that the wire is too small, as much as they have seen a lot of mechanical stress. It looks like whoever replaced the motor in it took great care to only plug and unplug the wiring harness by the wires instead of holding the plastic part of the connector. The EGR connector wires all looked like broken fingers in the last 1/2 inch before they went into the connector.

The sad part is that that connector has one of those red locking tabs, so it requires very little mechanical force to remove or install once the lock is unlocked.

I was hoping someone would talk me out of it

I think this is the wrong place for that thinking.

We love spending other people's money!

As do I. I think I spend as much time instigating with the best of them 😉

Maybe I should buy up stacks of LS blocks to use like cinder blocks and build the smokehouse I want for kielbasa....
