The electricians showed up on time this morning and got to rewiring the house. The 100amp rats nest of a breaker panel was pulled, and new 200 amp service was installed. The guys hired def take pride in their work and it looks nice and neat! I have plenty of room and power left, and the compressor is finally hooked up and making cool sounds!

That 100 amp service is the smallest I've ever seen. I guess our box is ridiculously large, though I never thought of it that way. Because Texas???

size matters.

House built in the 60's thing there man. Neighbor's is identical. We could've just had a larger breaker panel and stay at 100 amp service, but for a few hundred bucks more to upgrade to 200amp it was a no brainer for future potential additions.

As an insurance adjuster you don't know how many fires i have seen due to outdated breakers boxes, people who fix their wiring themselves and rig stuff to keep breakers from tripping

I've heard so many horror stories over the years, and have seen some messed up stuff! Our before panel was ok as everything was hooked up correctly, but yeah several people over the years that "knew what they were doing" got into the panel.

Dad's house (built in 75) has a box of ill repute (Federal Pacific?). Thankfully, he's come around and is having it modernized.

Jared, my realtor has mentioned he's convinced buyers to walk away from houses with Federal Pacific panels!
Yeah, they have a bad rep. Thankfully it hasn't been an issue for Dad. He's been there since 1985. I'm glad it is getting replaced though.
