Which flywheel do I need?

damn...it turns out the guy who was producing those custom clutch pedals to use with the auto brake pedal etc, stopped making them. I have the non-hydraulic pedal assembly for the car but still want to go the hydraulic route. Is anybody familiar with customizing the pedal so that the geometry is correct for use with a master cylinder?

I am in the middle of building my clutch pedal too. I am using the cma39838 clutch master cylinder and Howe Hydraulic Clutch Throwout bearing setup. I bought the pedals of ebay awhile back. I need to make the linkage bracket like this one

Anybody have a template? I don't want to buy another pedal like GSI sells. I have alot of money and time tied up now and am on the home stretch.

What a nightmare so far..Wrong mechanical clutch linkage, it interferes with headers. Wrong type of bell housing, its mechanical.. its turning a money pit..Hope its worth it when I am done..I should have found this site earlier!! :blam: :blam:

Anyone else use a T-56, there's more info on that. I have a T-5 lets hope it holds up..

I was using an F body pedal that I lengthened 1.5"....I installed everything, set it all up marked it and then took it out to weld a a plate with the pin onto the pedal arm...and found out I didn't like the position of the pedal and the rod for the master looked like it was on an angle so I took it out, cut the plate off and welded it back on....I used a G body brake pedal and just cut the foot plate

why can't you modify the clutch pedal to work with a hydraulic system...all you have to do is to locate the pin in the proper location...

hmm I see.

yeah that is what I thought, but another member was trying to discourage me from doing it due to the geometry being all wrong. The thread is old, but you posted in it that you thought the master-rod would bolt into the pre-existing hole used for the mechanical rod. I dont see anybody modifying the a/g-body pedals...finding fbody pedals is going to be a pain.

Same boat here man. What a piecemeal swap.

1985 was the last year for the 2 pc RMS block. The bolt circle pattern for these cranks were 3.58" diameter and these flywheels were neutral balanced. There was a small balancing pad on the flywheel flange. 1986 changed to the 1 pc RMS and the bolt circle was changed to 3" diameter so the wrong flywheel couldn't be mistakenly used. The flange was also changed to completely round. Since the small balancing pad was no longer on the flywheel flange, the *balancing pad* was added to the flywheel, thus the flywheel is counter-weighted.

The T5 uses a 10.4" clutch.

You want a 153 tooth flywheel for an 84 - 85 Camaro 305.

Thanks. Yes, it is a 2 piece RMS and needs a 153 tooth flywheel. I'm about to purchase one from an 83 Camaro 305, but it sounds like most pre-86 SBC flywheels with 153 teeth would work..

there is a forum out there where they say that you can used the F body pedal set up but that's all wrong...the pedal housing in an F body is not the same as a G body and the F body pedals are 1.5 " too short and are positioned too close to the driver. I used the G body pedal housing with the G body brake pedal and the F body clutch pedal which as I posted I modified it to work. The F body master clutch cylinder fits in the hole in the firewall where the wiring for the cruise control go thru the firewall..and if you can't modify a G body pedal to work then with all due respect find someone else to do the job and pay them

If it's do-able, I should have no problem doing it, I just didn't want to waste my time "re-inventing the wheel" if it was deemed not worth it. Thanks for the info though, I'll keep that in mind as an alternative.
