It's ugly. Just fix it right the first time as you may not have time to do it a second time. I am to broke to go cheap.

On the factory vinyl roof cars, the factory used bondo type stuff to fill the rear roof seams instead of lead like on the hardtops. All of the big 3 built vinyl roof cars that way. Factory applied bondo right over big sheetmetal gaps on my former landau Regal, supposedly the factory purposely performed poorer body panel fitment on landau cars because the vinyl would hide it.

Body man in a can, fixes everything that nobody wants to put money into. But that smell....
Intoxicating... every time i smell that or fiberglass resin i think of terrible body rot down the road. I do however have a few vehicles riding around with appropriateley used body filler that are in excellent condition 10 plus years later. It has it's place for skimming and finish work, but not swiss cheese holes.

I have bought a few but will never again buy white cars with tops on them. The manufacturers would always paint the worst fitted bodies white because it was easier to hide the flaws, and then throw vinyl or cloth tops on them to further hide imperfections and give the dealers incentive to purchase, where they could sell them for more with a (luxury package).

I own one of a limited amount of g body brougham supremes that didnt come with a factory quarter top, and it was the deciding factor buying the car. Of my other dozen or so gm 70'- 80s cars most of them were with vinyl tops. Im very glad to see somebody who is going to give one of these a chance at life.

It is a common problem with all cars with vinyl.

Moisture gets stuck under the vinyl and causes the rust

They do have there issues and a lot of it is lack of prep BEFORE the top goes on, but on the right car, with the right colors...they look awesome.
