There has been a few who have tried to start off with an attitude and if they don't change then they seem to leave, remember the engineer who boxed his frame with 1/4" steel?

I think because the last of our cars being new was 30 years ago, it takes certain kinds of individuals that want the challenge of improving or restoring an older car.

Looking at some other forums that cater to brand new performance cars, you get all the extremes.

Just for example checking some Demon forums, everybody in the US had put a deposit on the car if you believe everyone posting their new purchase! Ok? Then the bragging, the one upping the other. Just seems no one is policing the forum with all the aggressive back and forths going on. Who wants to be a part of that garbage? It was troll central. All I pictured was a bunch of middle schoolers in their basement just trying to cause friction for the fun of it. The trolls were ruining it for the few that just wanted to share their experiences and help others.

We all come from different parts of the world with the common enjoyment of G Bodies. We mostly stick to talking just about the cars, but the occasional diversion into other subjects is mostly met with courtesy and respect. Those that seem to forget this are not here too long.

When you respect others’ likes and car choices, regardless your own preferences, you end up with a forum you enjoy participating in.

I wonder this often. I'm continually impressed at just how little moderation and ban-hammer-dropping I have to do here. I guess you guys are all pretty awesome. :friday:

I'm glad the self policing works so well. Admittedly, I have to restrain myself sometimes to keep it clean. Other sites get cluttered with the political crap (Hi, ROP!), and it gets stale. It's always the same stuff, and it all sucks.

I've doing this online G-body community thing for about 20 years. It started on the G-body Mailing List (email based discussions) which killed my inbox. Then I found my way onto MalibuRacing, MonteCarloSS (later banned, don't act surprised), TurboBuick, TurboBuicks.com and IhadaV8, and finally here.

Out of them all this place is the best - least pretentious and fewest egos to get bruised. The one reason it works well is that we don't pander to the "high-rollers" and Johnny-Come-Latelys - because for the most part we don't really care about what you bought. Now, if you develop a solution and share it - you endear yourself to the community.

We are building something good here.
