Great build! … and great posts!

Regarding the "better quality seals" -- any particular brand you're referring to? I too find that doors need much more "persuasion" to properly close with aftermarket seals.

Keep up the great work! Good luck!
I might look into steele rubber products for the roofrail seals. The QC on these Metro units is garbage. They fit about 80% right, but the finish is crappy in a couple places. See pic below....

The door seals are also Metro and they fit well, but I feel like I need a come along to pull the door latched all the way!!! I have the strikers adjusted as much as possible, but no bueno! However, the goal was to get the windows up so it's mostly sealed and I can bring it home. I don't have a garage, but I'm going to be putting up a portable garage for the time being.
My dad's health has spiraled downwards in the past few weeks, and his jeep is in pieces. Once my car comes home, his jeep can get back into my brother n laws garage and we can get it knocked out.

I have Soff Seal roof rail and door weatherstrips for my car. I have not installed them yet. We used Soffseal as the second set of roof rail weatherstrips on Sean's Camaro and we are much happier with them.

Really sorry to hear your dad isn't doing well. I hope his health improves quickly.

front end looks good brother, are your doors popping like that only with the windows up or are they ok with them down?i only ask because if the door isn't just rite putting the window up makes it far worse.the window set ups on these cars are a huge pain in the *ss and will forever haunt me.for example,if you hung/aligned the doors minus the regulators, glass etc the alignment will change with the newfound added weight.

They are the same regardless up or down. The doors were hung with the guts in them. I don't believe the roofrail seals are the issue, they just look like sh*t!!!! The doors get about 8" from closing and start getting tight. They latch on the first click, but no further...and the doors are open about 1" or so. The glass does push out just a tad once they hit the roofrail seals, and the driver side fits better than the pass side, but not by much. I forgot to take a pic before I covered it up and left.

ok,the front of the door is to close to soon.pop the front part of those door seals off to see if it helps,if it does then the front door needs to be pulled away.

like O.D. said, glad to see ya back into it!

I can relate to the loss of interest at times, especially when the car is 20 miles away... think that's why the GP has taken so long to get back to roadworthy status.... Keep plugging away, and when you hit a milestone, you'll get recharged to get more done!

Thanks Darin! Getting the little done last week kinda gave me a boost. Also, I've rekindled my appreciation for exercising my 2nd Amendment right...and have added a member to the family along with some range time.
Hopefully I'll be able to get the Cutty home before long...it'll be much easier to work on it at home rather than travel to get time in.

I feel your pain. I just installed metro seals in my 81 malibu and they fit like crap. I have the same issue with the doors closing. The roof rail seals are junk, compared to the soft seal ones i have in my 79 malibu. Much better fit imo.
