Ummm, they use the same design on the Series 2 and LS.....

yes but the design is different, the oil pump pick up on the LS is far more substantial than on a Buick engine..

All engines have their inadequacies. It just seems like certain companies did stupid $**+ just to be different. That used to be part of the fun though, making something different go fast while being laughed at by the eunuchs wearing bowties. The same thing is still happening today. LS engines + Chinese turbos + over spending to the point of bankruptcy trying to chase down the rich kids who don’t even work on their own stuff. I love it the same as I did 20 years ago. Now let’s race.

First question should have been. What was your oil pressure after you freshend up the engine? What is it now?
More than I have now, less than I had then.
Hot idle (after highway for 20 minutes) Before: 10
After: Less than 4 (light comes on solid)

Hot idle normal (in driveway or city driving)
Before: 20-25 depending on ambient temp.
After: reads 0 on the gauge, but light doesn't come on. I'll assume 5.

At speed is pretty much the same. 60psi from 3000rpm on up. Raises with rpm from idle.

Low hot idle oil pressure is almost always a pump setup issue. If it was bearing clearance, it wouls have tossed a bearing long ago.

I bought some F'd up NOS door sill plates from GP John

Well, they were perfect when I bought them, but USPS decided to play bumper cars with them.

These are door sills before USPS:

Rktpwrd must've got hold of them and bent them up. He's still pizzed off apparently! :) Luckily, they were insured and I just got the insurance check yesterday. It does pay to insure the more expensive parts sometimes. I'd rather have the parts, though.

It's only low at idle in gear hot. Highway is 60psi.
