It's only low at idle in gear hot. Highway is 60psi.
Yep that is too low at idle. My cheesey gauge reads about ten at idle hot and 30 high idle hot. Your high idle is ok though. What is wrong with your factory covers?

My '76 cover is worn, my '70 cover is destroyed in the water pump area.

yes but the design is different, the oil pump pick up on the LS is far more substantial than on a Buick engine..

I was referring to the crank driven, gerotor pump......

Since my wagon is so Frankensteined, I cannot get to the radiator drain petcock to empty it when needed. So instead, I was always removing the lower radiator hose, which as you can imagine is not ideal and makes a helluva mess. So while ordering other stuff for other members of the fleet, I added this to the order. I'll splice into the lower radiator hose.

The link doesn't take you to the exact one I ordered for some unknown reason, but you get the idea.

I ordered the Moog 5413 springs from the local speed shop. Cost me $130 which is a bit more than I would probably end up paying ordering from Rock Auto but my friend owns the shop and I'd rather feed his pocket than some strangers...... :)
