Yep that is too low at idle. My cheesey gauge reads about ten at idle hot and 30 high idle hot. Your high idle is ok though. What is wrong with your factory covers?

I was referring to the crank driven, gerotor pump......yes but the design is different, the oil pump pick up on the LS is far more substantial than on a Buick engine..
Since my wagon is so Frankensteined, I cannot get to the radiator drain petcock to empty it when needed. So instead, I was always removing the lower radiator hose, which as you can imagine is not ideal and makes a helluva mess. So while ordering other stuff for other members of the fleet, I added this to the order. I'll splice into the lower radiator hose.

I ordered the Moog 5413 springs from the local speed shop. Cost me $130 which is a bit more than I would probably end up paying ordering from Rock Auto but my friend owns the shop and I'd rather feed his pocket than some strangers...... 
Bought a set of Taylor 8.2mm plug wires for the Pig. Taylor was US made at one point; hopefully, they still are.
Yep, my LS wires are Taylor and had big ole Made in USA on the box!
I've also found that they're the some of the lowest resistance wires made. ZAP, ZAP, MF'ers!!!!!
