The hammertone paint is one of my favorite Rustoleum products. I did the whole frame on my suburban with it. I've also done toolboxes, steering spindles, tractor parts, lots of other stuff too.

Scott,
Other than painting my control arms, etc. I always liked the look of hammertone paint. I have repainted one of my toolboxes years back and it seems to hold up pretty well, except for a few chips here and there. I also painted my bench vise, but it took a beating and got all chipped up. They say you can paint right over rust with it and it will bond to the rusty surface...which means, no primer required. I believe the paint has, if i'm not mistaken, glass in it. I'll have to look that up again.
I've become a stickler on prep these days. Before any of this metal stuff gets paint, it'll be super clean, then hit with some self etch before the paint. Fingers crossed it holds up well.

Absolutely! Prep ensures a better bond, no doubt about it.

Took a couple of evenings and a little time this afternoon but I'm caught up on your build Scott. As with Donovan's build I didn't realize I was behind as much as I was. Very nice progress! The car sounds great and the interior re-color is looking very good!

I'm betting right after you painted the frame you put up a sign next to it that said "Can't touch this."

the idea behind running that style over the o.e job that joins @the lower control arms is it doesn't place everything in bind by design.it's far more efficient.
