At least you're having some fun with it.

yeah, couple of my friends call it my Therapist. It gets handled a little rough at times but that's what it was built for. Dents, dings, stone chips and all. Friend took it home a couple times ( he used to run a hot GP "back in the day" ). Said it's the best he has felt in years. Funny he's the one watching me driving like an *ss. Full disclosure. It was a total closed course in a friends gated trucking yard we were working in. No open roads were involved hence we drive a little more spirited back there.

I took off my interior pieces that were starting to have sun rot. I sanded them with fine fine grit sandpaper, then I’m spraying them with Can bed liner then I’m going paint them with camel paint to match.

Keep us posted on how this turns out and share your products being used please. I'm eventually going to get around to this and would like to see how its done and the end result.

SEM makes a texture coating that's very similar to the grain of factory plastics vs bed-liner.

Why can bed liner? To put a texture on them?

I would venture to say there are better products to create a better result if texture is your goal. Refinishing interior panels is one of the many things I do for my day job. I had to repair my mint dash because wind picked it up off a shelf and threw it across the shop a few weeks back and cracked it to hell. But she is repaired now.

They make another that I use alot called clear chip guard.. it can be manipulated with heat, heat the can and the texture gets finer, colder it gets bigger.. apply while using a hear gun, let cool, hardens very well, of the texture is too much can knock it down with 600grit or higher sandpaper, then put whatever color mixture of dye over the top, wipe down and reinstall.

2010 tahoe dash crack (they all do it), fiberglassed the crack, then smoothed out panel, used the chip guard to replicate texture and then matched the color and dyed dash.

I’m not too worried about matching texture as I’m going to get all my interior professionally upholstered in leather in the far future. I’m just doing it so they don’t become brittle and break from the sun. Thanks for the info though.
