Barked up the compressor, dug out my 4.5 angle grinder and Cousin Dremel and proceeded by stages to rough out, shape, and finish sand all the welds that I had laid on the lower door skin edge to rebuild and reshape it. Still have a few more spots to lay some Mig Wire Love on but they may have to wait until I can get over to the Supply shop and pick up another tank of gas. This one is down to around 250-300 psi so about 200 and change left before "empty" occurs. A few coats of primer/filler and it actually might look almost acceptable.

Oh, yeah, the drain valve on the compressor tank fractured and blew away when I went to open it to drain the tank down. (See what did you do to your shop today)

Over the weekend I worked on rear speakers, I wanted to use the 6.5 inch that came with the components. Was originally going to use wood as an adapter but came across a Metra speaker adapter, it is not for a gbody but it will work with some modifications. What I did like about the adapter is its at an angle and flat on top for mounting that's a plus.

I had to first trim the inside hole, the rubber surround on the speaker was larger than the opening and was interfering. A dremel and a cut off wheel took care of that.

Next was to test fit the adapter and see what needs to be cut off for clearance and have it sit flush. The picture with the speaker opening to the right of it the sheet metal is at an angle same to the left of it but not much. Made some cuts and it sits flush.

Now it was time to mount the the speaker to the adapter. I had to bend the tabs up drill some pilot holes for the screws. I was lucky that there was room for screws in the plastic. I did remove a small lip on the speaker basket not sure if you can see it just incase it did rub against the metal, it cleared it.

It was time to place it up there and see if it sat flush and it did. The magnet cleared the trunk rods.

I had added some acoustic foam that we use at work around the side of adapter that was close to the sheet metal to prevent any vibration noise if any. I did cut some notches out of the foam so when the foam compresses against the sheet metal it doesn't interfere with the speaker.

I will be adding foam on the flat part of the adapter. Hopefully this weekend the speakers will be mounted. The extra opening on each end that's not covered by the adapter will be covered with foam.

Installed a bigger water pump pulley to maybe curb the "overheating" on the highway. It doesnt overheat per se, but after about 30 minutes at 3krpm, it will start to climb from 180 to 210ish. slow down to 60ish at 2500rpm, it cools down. That flowkooler water pump is awesome, too awesome. I think its moving too much coolant at that rpm, so I'll see how that goes. Also added shims and apparently missing bolts to the ps bracket as well as tightening its fittings.

did they specify a t stat to go along side that pump? I always wondered about speciality pumps like that.

i've got a 180. it stays 180 or lower around town. taking off from a stop the temp will actually momentarily swing down from 180 to 170-150 (depending on ambient temp) before it catches back up again.

Preliminary highway tests with the bigger pulley seem to be going well. Granted it's 46 and heavily misting... Gotta wait for a 70* day at least to really test it. Sitting in the work parking lot idling after 3200rpm for the past hour to get to work. 175ish.

Also no they did not have a recommendation as far as I know. It's a bad *ss pump though. I think it was under $100 when I bought it. Now theyre over $100.

Brought it down the shop to clean and touch up some stuff, gonna try to take the door panel off and see if I can get the popper reconnected since the Kennywood car show is both days this weekend. The problem I learned the other day is that the window won't go up all the way now, I am guess the popper line got caught up in it

my mechanic got the new fuel tank/sender on, distributor, ignition, and it looks like I need a new carb. I know the car sat for dang near 15 years, but geesh lol.

I feel like I should have just snatched the drivetrain out of my monte carlo and put it in this regal.
