What Did You Do To Your G-Body Today? [2022]

YO, I-CUTTY; AND WE HAVE A WINNAH!!

The plan Z for my fuel injection harness project was to take advantage of a couple of links to Amazon products that had been posted by Injected Cutty and a couple of others. Much Thanks to all of YOU.

At this point I have to pitch a minor b*tch here, the pictures of the various products provided by Amazon suck in terms of detail and perspective. For the one set of adapters, there were four pictures but all of the same plug, just from various angles. Nothing of the other end. Bother.

So I ended up scoring two separate kits. The first was the Centaurus X0027AEORV kit which is a intermediary adapter coupler that has one end socketed to fit the UScar EV6 injector and the other end pinned for an EV1 harness socket. Turns out that the EV1 uses a flat pin like a metripack 150 and it wouldn't talk to my harness at all. The vendor of record is Cell Phone Parts, p/n QP087-EV14

BUT: the second kit........ Well apparently the nomenclature for my engine is even older than I suspected. Instead of using the LM-7 as my designator, I should have used LQ-4 or LQ-9. The original truck injectors were Multecs, but the harness used Delphi connections.

So I guess I can add another language to the growing list of those that I cannot speak, that being Delphi-Aptiv. Latin I can get by in but Greek gets a pass. Moving on.

Seems the DEVMO Kit, (DevMo is short for DevelopMoreUS) as described by the reference page on the Amazon site, is supposed to adapt a Delphi wire harness to the EV-6 injector... Which It Does. And since it plugged into the stock engine management harness injector plugs, and into the EV-6 injectors, apparently it does, NO Sh**, do exactly that.

The part number for this kit is X002ZARYML. Thinking here that both those numbers X0027*.* are Amazon's and that the mfgr's have dedicated numbers of their own. For this kit, that might be p/n AU778-EV6, sold under the Devmo product line name by DevelopMoreUS.

If there can be said to be any takeaway from all this, it would be that the older systems can be upgraded by the judicious use of kits created for that purpose. Just be prepared for a lot of grief, misery, frustration, mistakes, and non-directional rage. For me I think most of the issue revolves around a local mentality that thinks lift kits and turbo bling are what make a ride cool. Not hearing too much road rumble about anyone willing and daring enough to pick through the guts of an engine management system; think most of them have deep pockets and send the whole mess out to a specialist. Equals $$$$ and time spent waiting.

And that is where matters now sit. Coco, over at DC Auto, my local indie speed Shop, managed to come up with some FelPro numbers for the injector O-rings so they are now on order and i am waiting again. Once they appear, I can go ahead and finish the injector project and move on to something else as equally time and money consuming. ???????

This car stuff is...frustrating and therapeutic. Just starting the Regal in my garage this morning made me feel good. Charged the battery, bought a new gas cap, dry fitting the rear bumper fillers.

Well not today, but over the weekend I went to help a friend figure out why his wheel was rubbing when he turned. I closed my driver's door on the malibu and the mirror fell off, hanging by the remote cable. So once we got his car taken care of, it was off with mirror, drilled and tapped the pulled out threads and back on the car. So I took advantage of the door panel being off and adjusted the window hold so it does rattle when I close the door.
Then ran a new set of RCA cables from the head unit to the Amp and put on the new top plate to hold the radiator that I got from Mike's Montes.

Was going to take the Monte to a pop up show with a buddy, he called when i was on my way to say he couldnt get his car out since the air bnb guests blocked it in the driveway. So I turned around and let him drive the Monte while I took the GTO, stopped and got some food of course

Even got my buddy to drive by me a few times to get vids of it rolling

Too bad he couldn't or didn't pace you for a bit so's we could hear the motor song a little longer; maybe rap the pipes once or twice to annoy the straights.

On another topic altogether, has anyone heard anything about OPGI suspending operations or having supply/delivery issues? Put an order in with them for some parts for the Monte about a month ago and nothing has arrived. Queried the site and the reply came back "Pending". No estimated time for delivery suggested. Did send them a politely worded "WTF" note to the info address but not really optimistic about a response. Anyone else sitting on their hands and waiting for parts from them?

Eh, it sounds much better at idle. People love it when it sits there chopping away, but while she sounds mean the GTO runs circles around her. Although the good thing is, my buddy gained much respect for me. After we got to the meet, he says I can't believe you keep up with us on the highway in this I am afraid to go over 60. To be fair he has been rather spoiled with cars, he drove our buddies NSX for him for like 5 years then got a Gallardo.

China bad.

I had to call and pay a tow today, but its at the shop. . . However they won't touch it until about the 23rd 😡, I was told that May 3rd they could start on it even had it scheduled on said day. Now I have to wait 20 more days; and to top it off I had to put a down payment. Don't get me wrong here, the Mechanic is awesome! And even has Government Contracts to fix Mail Trucks and other GOV vehicles, my frustration is mostly all the waiting I have had to do, Even then a 305 will go in to it because waiting 3 months for an SBC 350 delivery was not an a viable option at this point. Not to mention I am already getting complaints about the car just sitting. Well it's sitting at the shop for now.
