Dropped the bu off at the body shop for its first replacement part. NEW DOOR. well, new old door. :D also getting the pass door cleaned up,resealed, and primed.
i hate living in a condo with no place to work on my car.
welcome. i am new here too, and these guys have been great. you have found a great home, with endless information.
people are pretty regular on here, so if you ask a question or something, be sure to check back regularly. and again, welcome.
yea. if you look at the window from the outside, it looks like it sits in a little tray that has a rubber flap that lays over onto the exterior. i have a small amount of surface rust forming on each side. and the rubber is too sun bleached and stiff to fold back to work on.
i really need to...
well, exciting day today.
first, i started it up. shot starting fluid around the engine to try and find a possible vacuum leak. got a little too close to the Dist., and caught the top of the engine on fire. quickly shut it off anf stripped my shirt to douce the fire. quick reaction, no...
not sure if this is the right area for this, but, does anyone know where to get quarter window weatherstripping, or, anyone that has replace the stripping, what have you used and where did you get it?
i cant seem to find anything listed online. i can find all the stripping for the car except...
if you get it, i do believe those doors will work on malibu's. and i will have drivers door glass and manual hardware soon when i replace my door.
plz correct me if im wrong, but wont those doors from an el camino up to an 83 work on the malibu?
be gentle. im still learning what is interchangable.
i just remembered something. if you buy a car out of California, make sure you have the DMV run the VIN number BEFORE you buy it. i read somewhere that California can have lein's on cars, and the buyer doesnt know about it until you go to title the vehicle. just FYI.
color me foolish, but ,what makes that a scam add, or were you being sarcastic?
i'm not up on Buick. is that a specialty car? i've heard of the T Type.
I would sport that around.
my 80 bu has a completely stock v6 3.8L 231. it starts perfect and idles nice. but once i put it in gear, R or D, it idles really rough. i have changed ALL the vacuum hoses today except the one to the canister and tightened all the bolts on the carb. still no change. anyone have any ideas, or...
i also found a great website for parts. dont know how many people know about this place, but i will post it anyways.
www.honestcharley.com
thought it might be nice if there was a thread started with websites that we found for parts. kind of our own finds.
sit and do a massive search over Craigslist. i found mine on CL with a 3.8L engine, and have seen a few more listed. most of them are in fairly good shape and not that expensive. i paid 3300.00 for mine. all original and in need of very little except some rejuvination of interior and a couple of...
its cool as hell that you are in France and love our old cars. Welcome. its getting harder and harder to find old cars here now. everyone wants to scrap them for extra cash these days. the new cars (i call them cookie cutter cars because they all look the same) are crap. great to have you here...
I had just read that another guy here had said he used sandpaper prior to painting, thats why i asked about that. But if a 3M pad works just as good, thats fine. I dont think i have any panels that have ny deep scratches. Its mostly a sun bleach problem in my car. I just want the job i do to...
I have never done interior before, and have some specific questions about how to do it.
Do i wash them down with soap and water before i sand?
What grit of sand paper is best?
What is the best brand of paint to use?
And do they make the blend with the urathaine in a can for those of us without...
@bill, the picture was taken at the guys house i bought it from. But if anyone here is interested, i do believe its for sale. Let me know, and i can contact him about it. I can get the details on it. He lives close to me. It looks solid and just in need of some TLC. Its in northeast Tennessee.
Wanted to stop in and say gey to everyone. My name is David. I just purchased a very clean, 100% original 1980 Malibu Classic. It has very few problems to be 32 years old. I am 3rd owner, technically 2nd owner from the little old elementary school lunch lady that sold it to the guy i bought it...
