Aren't JDM engines not US DOT approved and illegal for street use? If they catch you running a JDM they automatically impound your car?
The 2jz and 13b rotor engines came in the supra and rx7 which the us did get and the 2jz is in the Lexus is300 and the 1jz cam in some Cressida which the us also got

So there should be no problem with getting those, in regards to legal issues. If I was trying out for an engine swap with something that never made it stateside, then I'd be in some trouble.

That Caprice never ran anywhere near as it was expected to run, just a lot of money wasted. A Blueprint BBC 632 w/warranty could've been had for the amount of money wasted on the 2JZ swap. What is often forgotten is that the import cars weigh far less than the domestic cars, so torque isn't as important to them.

The 77-90 Caprices doesn't actually weigh much more than a G-body. I wouldn't waste my time or money with the 1JZ/2JZ swap though. Torque is a beautiful thing. If you had a S13/S14 body, then I'd say go for it.

Exactly! These heavier cars need torque to get moving.

I don't want to start a fight here but a a80 (fast and furious looking supra) weighs around 3100 pounds and stock Chevy Monte Carlo weights around 3200 pounds. So not much of a weight difference. You have to remember the supra was not a sports more of Luxury grand tour car. S15 was around 3000 pounds so they weigh about the same. Our cars are not that heavy compared to other cars I mean my cutlass weighs about 3000-2900 pounds and 3.8 Hyundai coupe weights a whopping 4000

If I ever build a sleeper drag car, I'm getting a 240SX. 2862 lbs max w/full interior.
