200-4r Wide open throttle

Most of the regular governor 2004R shift at 4000 rpm full throttle, my 88 CSC trans was 3000 rpm. Sad but that would be where a swirl port 307 would run out of breath. I bought this used trans that had a rebuild with some upgrades, my shifts up to 4500 by grinding on the governor weight a little bit and using the green line bias spring in the big Trans Go kit. It was supposed to add 3-500 rpm. I have just let it shift at auto shift points and it ran 9.4 in the 1/8, equal to mid 14's in the 1/4. I would at least over fill your trans a quart, if you have the stock filter assembly and pan. Does your trans have a shift kit or upgraded servo? I just got the TCI Fast Gate shifter and will be pushing 5500 at the track this afternoon, I will let you know how it goes. I have the bottom feed 4L60E filter and deep Hughes pan. I also have the big Trans Go shift kit and servo. I have my line pressures up to an acceptable 220 psi in the auto foward gears. I know of no hyper pistons for the Olds 350, hopefully they are the forged pistons not the big dish cast replacements. The track will tell you where your car stands. Expect terrible 60 ft times with street tires but if you have the power, it will run an OK time. What stall converter did you get?

The trans has a shift kit but I dont know about servo. When I tested my line pressures I believe all the forward gears were between 180 and 220. Stall converter is 1800. The car is mainly just a cruiser thats why I went the that converter. As for tires I'm running a 275/40/r17 bfg sport comp 2 tires. I hope those would help hookup a bit. I know theres a couple things I have to do before going to the track still or I wouldn't pass inspection. We will see if it happens

This explains Hyperutwhatever pistons pretty clearly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypereutectic_piston have a set of those in my Buick 350. haven't given me any trouble and I wing it right to 5k about once a week. Some valve float a day will keep the imports away 😛

So I google searched and can't really find an answer. Does anyone have any clue how much weight would have to be removed to move my shift point from 4k up to 5k?

See what your converter flashes at. I had the factory D9 low stall and it flashed at 1900 behind a mild Olds 350 and Olds 403. Make sure you don't get too crazy over filling the TH2004R, I only got 2 runs due to a leak which I am pretty sure was coming out the top vent. I am going to add a catch can. First run was fine since I accidentally short shifted, no time since it was the first run and the ticket didn't print. I won the race though. Second one I over foot braked and spun to a horrible 2.9 60 foot and a disappointing 10.4 in the 1/8 and my day was done due to the leak. Is a locking dipstick necessary at your track?

A lot from what I recall get my trans to shift from 3K to 4200 rpm in my original 2004R.

If you don't have a performance governor you'll have to shave quite a bit.

Mine is from a 87ss Monte and the weight is pretty small. If I remember correctly the ss shifts at 4800 at wot.

I know it doesn't help much but the transgo instructions from my shift kit say to grind 1/16 from the small weight and go from there but realistically you aren't probably going to keep removing the pan till you get it where you want.

Maybe search eBay for an ss or gn one even PATC transmissions. They sell them too.

I don't drag race but wouldn't it be best to have the car dyno'd to see at what rpm you want the transmission to shift?
