That's a whole nother expense. Add up a new Hurst shifter, and installation kit (mount, rods, etc) handle and knob and your head will spin. That's why we haunt the swap meets, looking for the diamond in the rough.

Yeah, they are scarce. We have a crummy little one real close, but end up making the trek to NJ for the huge one at Raceway Park in Englishtown. It's so big you are crawling on your hands and knees if you can finish it. And the one in Carlisle PA is said to take 3 days to do it right. In fact, I've gotten almost all my 4 speeds at E-town, for real good prices, like a greasy but perfect 3:50 first gear Saginaw for $50.

ok so i have some leads on some transmissions im going to follow up on.

now the next question. i got the factory 462606 bellhousing and ball stud. i know this is a 153 tooth flywheel. now looking at clutches and flywheels on summit there are both 10.4 and 10.5" dia. it seems the 10.5 is alot more money for the flywheels than the 10.4. Which one to go with. its looks like i can get a zoom flywheel and mcleod super street clutch for around $375 for the pair.

right but st summit they have both listed for the first gen small block chevy. so thats why i was confused. well i guess what its says is clutch friction area. but it seems like a better deal to be had going with the 10.4 over the 10.5

well after looking over all the options i think its going to be the 1034. now on to clutched. mcleod, zoom or centerforce
