502 chevy vs 350 chevy

Based off of the power numbers matching the 502 H/O make me feel like this would be a misapplication for the heavy RV since the factory used a cast iron 325 rectangle port head to make those numbers and I would expect anything put in a RV to have a 275-290 oval port or even peanut port to make the power it needs down low.
Do you know the year of the RV or what gen. the engine is? And was this factory fuel injection that was on there?

RV is 85, carbed, oval port, Gen 4, 8.75 compression, got all the specs 's now, it is a 9.80 deck an its HT not HD. Was just talking to previous owner an he pulled out card, only difference between HT summit has is Max Torque at 3200, where this one is 1800, summit roller this one is flat.

Have to do a serious cam change if l use it.

It has potential but it is a truck engine and designed accordingly, realistically it would need better flowing heads and a bigger cam( preferably hydraulic roller) and you would be at H/O power numbers, but as is you are only at .8 horsepower per cubic inch which is not very high but good torque.

Ya after learning about the tq and reading about flow # l started leaning towards the 350 as to build the 502, transmission, rearend, heater box and bracing it's just less work, besides l don't need every car l got with BB's, or do l, lol!

I have my doubts that it is a Mark IV,(not Gen 4), as I don’t believe there was a 502 Mark IV.
You need to get a closer look at casting numbers in order to determine what you actually have.

I have the 565 BBC in my Monte currently and am building a new one with more power to replace it, but for my Regal I am just building around a 350 horse SBC similar to what you wanted to do, I want to have my overdrive trans and retain the AC and eventually go with F.I. and hopefully get decent mileage, basically a nice all around cruiser.
If I want to terrorize the streets I can pull the Monte out.

Factory crate, picked it up with less than 10,000 miles for a $1000, it's the 502 HD was in a old motorhome 16,000lb. My car appraisal guy had it sitting an had all the paperwork on the engine when he replaced the old 454.

This ^^^ defies all BBC logic - you scored it on the cheap. Congrats.

I'm not sure of exactly what you BB is, but if it's the same build as you posted the description for, then this is a keeper. Forged crank, rods, and pistons. Low compression, mild cam. HOLY MOLY - this begs for forced induction. A cam and spring change, a couple of 70 or 72 mm Chinesium T4's and it could be the 1500 whp cruiser with reliability. AND ON THE CHEAP!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like you have the budget to build something that'll be some real fun.

565 - wow, that is a great looking engine bay.

Never thought about going that route, sounds interesting. Now to read up on Turbo's. Thanx!
