I took my road test on a 1959 Bug with semaphore signals. We had a 1961-65-66-72 and a 73. i worked on all of them. Thus, I would not touch one with a ten foot pole. But you go ahead, pay no attention to me.
Not as crusty as the floor. I bought this thing because it was cheap, and I figured it had some room to make some money. My mistake was letting my kids see it. Now the GP is for sale and I’m reading everything I can about air cooled vw’s. 22 years ago I was a tech at a VW dealer, but those water cooled units were a whole different animal.I think it will be a cool project. That's one crusty looking Hurst shifter. Get your kids involved with helping you out on it.

I have that book somewhere. I got it as a gift when I owned my golf. Thanks for reminding me.Invest in this, loved it when I had my Ghia.
What type of Type III do you have? Fastback, Squareback, Notchback? I owned a '68 Squareback, I loved that car. Notchback would have been an earlier year and much rarer cars.Still have my 69 Type III, they were fun cars, Used to be so cheap, everyone either had one or had a friend with one or a story about one. Very simple to work on. Looks like that one was lowered and had a header put on it.
That's a great book by John Muir. He makes it easy for anyone to understand and is humorous as well. I still have that book along with all my other manuals, reference material, etc.I have that book somewhere. I got it as a gift when I owned my golf. Thanks for reminding me.
