Propane torch and a stiff paint scraper. Eastwood also sells a spray bomb solvent to help with this task, but I have not yet tried the stuff. Managed to clean up the bottom of a truck bed in about 2 hours without setting anything on fire. Messy, though.

That is exactly what I do, propane torch and paint scraper, then some stiff wire wheel, fiber stripper wheels, and my sandblaster to get the rust. The floors are in good shape under there. 😀

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon Update 7/7/14 Chassis assembly!!!

I received my aluminum radiator support in the mail today, I'll blast the paint off and fix a few spot welds, and I will be good to go.

I haven't gotten a whole lot done on the wagon. I had to get my oldest daughter a car, a 2003 Monte SS High Sport. It is competition yellow with black leather, moon roof, all the extras. New trans, radiator, water pump, KYB struts, Eibach springs, has a rotted 3" exhaust with blowfasters. I put a 2.5 inch exhaust from an Impala SS with some Dynomax mufflers on it.

I may be able to get back on the wagon and continue stripping and blasting the bottom side floor pans next week.

Small update. I got the floors sandblasted/stripped, epoxy primed and seam sealed. Then finally a few coats of bedliner.

niCE and THOROUGH job!!!! cant wait to put my aerocoupe on a rotisserie!!! these past 2 frame off's have resulted in por-15 'freckles" that last for a month or more  looking forward to the next installment/faze!!!

Re: 81 Century/GN Wagon Update 7/7/14 Chassis assembly!!!

Looks great, Jim.
The rotisserie is the way to go. You can't compare doing a body- off to a body-on job. Again, I would have liked to have done a body-off, but space was a big factor...and age is the other... :?

 Looks awesome!

Are you going to paint the body on the rotisserie or are you going to put it back on the frame first?

Been a couple months. I have been at Keesler AFB in Biloxi for upgrade training.

Looks great, Jim.

Jack, I love this tool. I don't know how I have done other frame offs without it!

Blake, I am going to do it on the frame. I have to haul the car to a friends so we can finish up the body work and get it in paint. He has a paint booth. 😀

SO, I have been home for a week, and I had some help getting this project in high gear. My cousin and nephew came over and helped get the firewall stripped, blasted of rust spots, the roof stripped, a body mount pedestal repaired, the drive shaft loop fabricated, and the AC box removed.

I have the firewall in epoxy as I type, tomorrow I will re-seam seal it, and do a little smoothing on it. Trying to get it in color on Tuesday. The roof, well lets just say I am glad I stripped it down. I has a few dents, and there are 1000 little rust spots all over it. Soooo, I have some Evaporust, and 3 rolls of paper towels. I soaked the paper towels, covered the entire roof with two layers, then cover that in plastic. I hope it woks. That stuff worked GREAT on my smaller parts that were submerged in it.

Hey Jim,
Good to see you back. I was kinda wondering what happened to you. It's good to see you catching up on progress.
Glad you have a few helpers to get a few things done.
Your friend having a paint booth will be a tremendous help.
