This brace needed to be modified so the new floor can sit flat. The original floor had a bump in it for the cat im guessing

Work has been getting in the way lately but I found some time to start the passenger floor. Made a friend at work with a bead roller and carved the ribs int the metal to ad strength and make it look more original.

Took some time with the ball peen to get the curves in the corners

Its got a snapple top thing goin on were the metal pops, but once I get the cross brace welded in it should stiffen up enough to go away

you have some serious metal skills sir ! Last floor pan I did was almost as bad as yours. It was repaired with a street sign and pop- rivits. Didnt look near as nice as what you are doing 🙂

Nice work. I'm sure your repairs will be stronger than the original construction.
Keep up the good work.

Finished up the floor pan by welding in the front half. This piece got a little warped in the bead rolling process, so it required some extra attention to get to sit flat. Here is the finished floor with some weld through for the cross brace.

Theres a weld in the middle were I had to cut the pan to make a relief in the metal so it would sit flat and not pop up like a snapple lid.

Just need to repair the rusted outer seat bracket and weld it on.

Been busy with work again but still finding time to plug away at the Cutty. I found a place kinda local to get the quarters and rockers, it was 143 Canadian each for the quarters shipped which was a lot cheaper then online through the States.

Im having trouble with the rockers tho, I first ordered a pass quarter and rocker but received a pass quarter but a driver rocker. When I ordered the driver quarter and another pass rocker again I received a driver rocker. The rocker says Right on it but is very clearly a driver side rocker. It is the same one sold by G-body parts and Auto body specialties GMK403547078R, has any one had this problem before. Im prob going to order a driver side rocker on Tuesday and see if they are just miss labeled from the factory.

Heres the label

So until I get the rocker I can't fix the lower outer fender and can't install the quarter. so I started removing more stuff

Some stuff didn't make it tho, front windshield.

And this is what a quarter panel stuffed into a compact car looks like, wife had to ride behind me on the trip back. Warehouse guy was sure it wasn't going to fit.

My hat is off to you - I wouldn't have even started that, just parted it out!! I have a great frame and body cheap but then you would have missed all the fun.

I was on PEI for the last 10 days and was thinking of your build. Went to see my cousins low mile 83 cutlass and I think his is as bad as yours.
It was not driven in winter since he bought it in 86 or so and has been on blocks in a dry barn since 2001. The interior is MINT the body is JUNK LOL
Also seen his neighbors 86 Monte SS. 1 owner since new. Its a total pile ( parts car really ) and hes asking $4000.00

1. Love the welding cart with one leg made from a cam shaft. Practical metal art!
2. Love the smiley-face beer (?)
3. A GM patch panel made in Denmark?!? Now that's utterly a first! I once got a GM timing chain set that was labeled 'Made in France'...
4. I so wish I could reach back in time and hand you my parted out Malibu coupe shell. Rust-free, just a crease in one quarter panel...but I was moving and some or the hoard had to go...

axisg I inquired about a rusted hulk of a camaro on PEI once with rust up to the sail panels. He wanted $3500, ill pass. The ones in good shape on the east coast go for a premium tho.

ssn696 Id rather Denmark then Taiwan, A rust free shell would be nice but this is more of an exercise in metal work for the fun times.

Ordered a left side rocker today lets hope it ends up being a passenger side, also need to get some epoxy for inside the rocker.
