'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Blake, I had seen an aluminum hood here local for sale,, think it was for a 78-80 though.

Your progress is helping me make progress!

Always glad to help, Jim! Your progress helps keep me going too!
Actually the '78-'80 style is what I need for the wagon, though I assume the shipping cost would be enough to keep me away.
I'll keep looking locally, and if I have to fix mine, at least it won't be as bad as the roof...

Jack, my wagon was a different story...
Everything had paint on it, some places too much. They ran the piss out of it in the cowl/front door jamb areas.
I keep joking with my buddy that I want to be just like the MOPAR guys and intentionally recreate all the runs lol
Though realistically, it just means that when I inevitably run the paint I can just say "**** it, it was like that from the factory"!

Laid down some more filler on a few spots today.
I got that sanded off, made one last pass over the doors and got the header panel knocked down as well.
Next time I head out there I'll wipe 'em down and shoot some more surfacer.

Get erect done!

I had to leave that, that was my phone auto correcting. HAHA!

Hahaha!

Hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend!
Yesterday I shot some more surfacer on the doors and header panel.
I ran short on reducer so I was only able to get two coats sprayed, but oh well...

Great project. I have soft spot for those old wagons. I love how you rescued the car from a bad end at that junk yard. Looking forward to seeing some green paint and woodgrain. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Jared, I got extremely lucky in the fact that this car sat in the junkyard for 7 years and nothing was taken from it.

Jacob, I got kinda worried when I heard that the Car Craft Summer Nationals was moved from St. Paul to Milwaukee.
The same day I got the new flyer in the mail for the renamed event here, so I was relieved there was still a show.
Same weekend in July as CC, but it is now called the O'Reily Auto Parts Street Machine Nationals...
2016 should be achievable for the wagon assuming I don't get too distracted...
I'll be there this year with the 442 as usual, just need to drag it out of the garage. lol

Jim, I was hoping we'd see color around the same time, so I might have to pick up the pace here a little bit!

For the wagon update, I didn't get a ton accomplished over the past week...
Lost Tuesday sitting at home waiting for our new washing machine to show up.
Thursday I got the front doors blocked out again, I'll probably hit them with another few coats tomorrow.
Saturday I ended up at Mopars in the Park with a buddy of mine and his '70 Challenger. Lots of nice cars!
Had the intention of hitting the show early then working on the wagon, but once I walked around by myself then again with my friend, I was ready to park it for the day...

That would be cool. The weather is crappy here, at least for the next few day too, so I may be slowed down for a bit. I REALLY want this at my buddies shop this month.
