Amazing the difference that a 60' time makes, eh?

But, yes - you are still leaving a lot of time on the table by short-shifting it below 7000rpms. Understood that making clean runs makes that near impossible get consistency/feel. And yes, numerically your gear change has opened up a world of possibilities, 1-4 vs. 2-5 down the strip. The torque multiplication factor of the 4.30s and first gear are only an advantage when traction is present. Otherwise you'll find leaving in second to be a benefit/compromise.

I am also, personally, pleased to see how much our cars had in common with respect to power production. Seems like I was on the right track to my goals before... well... you know.

Frustrated Season 3 GIF by The Simpsons

The rod bending situation will forever be known as THE INCIDENT (I couldn't find a GIF from the dodgeball cheerleader scene).

Interesting that your 5.3 non IC, 180f IAT, 13 degree of timing, 16 PSI setup picks up 30mph in the last 1/8 which is identical to my 6.0, 19 degrees, 10psi with 160 IAT.

Yeah the 60 ft difference is tremendous. The .1 at the 60 is a consistent .2 for the overall pass. It's wishful thinking but my best 60 ft is 1.62, so 2.1-1.62 = .48 sec. .48*2 == .96, so 12.02-.96 = 11.06. That's a bit more tuning away from a 10 at my existing boost level. That's good affirmation for a 10.

The car ran identical 1/8 to 1/4 time, 4.1 second at 6700rpm shift vs 6200 with 2 more psi, so rough guess 500rpm got me an additional 30-40hp, and boost got me an additional 30-40hp, basically 15-18hp/psi is what it looks like it's trending

I'm warming up to more RPM. 6200 to 6800 showed reward, i'll try 7000 next time :)

Yeah the general consensus of the near zero prep was disappointment but I'm still glad I made it out. I had some people say the car was surprisingly fast considering the conditions and the fact that it's a heavy radial car.
Getting in 3 or more runs and the car working the same as when I pulled in is ALWAYS a win. Definitely better than a good day at work. You were able to get some data, and maybe it didn't include the numbers you wanted, but............still beats a day at work.

Is the consensus your additional cubic inches are covering his smaller motor and additional boost? I have a thought that I can't verify until the two of you can get a couple of clean passes in. I'll bet that your IAT's will be higher if you don't pedal.

Hmmm, shocking.......haha. When the valves float ir the IAT's look like the side of mountain (because of the blower), then you'll know when rpm is an issue.

I agree with trying what Tony1968 said as well. You might be able to hit it alot harder than you think if the gearing can limit the power for the 1st 30' or so. You should be able to check this out on the street imo.

I think Mike's additional boost makes more power in theory especially with a heat scavenging turbo but my timing due to Ethanol and better DA balances things out.

My cubes, fuel and DA offsets the extra boost.

For reference yesterday was 2700 DA and it corrects to like a 11.80 at 123 so I'm down minimal power.

I would like to play around with timing and the extra 2psi of boost still. Im interested to see what my IAT does with more boost + this additional rpm I've played with. 170 iat is as high as I've seen at this boost level with 80f ambient. The extra 500rpm added 10-15F iat roughly and the smaller pulley option I have spins the blower 8% faster which is basically how much faster I'm spinning it during shift.

My guess as long as the blower doesn't fall off a cliff like you say is that my IAT will be about another 10f with 2 more psi, so probably 180-185.

You guys need to come to Houston Raceway Park. It's in Baytown. Sea level elevation.

I was there for a few days last October. That would pass as decent summer weather.
October to May is pretty good here. June-August is usually hot. This summer has been warmer than last year. Still, 2011 was way worse.

For comedic effect, it's low 90s up here with 30% humidity and people are losing their minds. Hahahaha.
