BUILD THREAD 87 Cutlass EFI build: 9/13/23..NEW STUFF!

Spent a few minutes earlier in my neighbor's climate controlled shop...really didn't wanna come back to 85° and 65% humidity in my garage with a fan going, but had to suck it up.
I got the lower fan brackets made up, test fitted and good to go. View attachment 117578View attachment 117579

I pulled them back off, cleaned up and semi ready for some paint.
Looking good!

Injected Cutty.... going back a few pages I noticed you mounted your fuel regulator and gauge on fuel rail.... which looks killer btw... But have you or anyone here had a problem mounting it directly on engine ? I ask because I ran into a problem with a similar (not sure if yours is Automotive brand) on my Cummins. The vibration wore it out too quickly. It is kind of a sensitive piece of hardware. And I know my Cummins rattled very hard.... but since then I've always mounted on firewall. Just a thought. Might not be a problem on a gasser.

There are a couple people that have mounted it on the engine. Mine is an Aeromotive unit, and when I asked them they didn't warn against the idea. I used to have it mounted low on the pass side on my small block, but this LS has caused me to change some routing paths.
In the event it becomes an issue I'll relocate it to the firewall or wheelwell. Thanks for the tip and concern btw, I'll be sure to keep an eye on it.

I'm sure you'll be fine if others have done it with no ill reports. The time mine failed I had diesel coming out of the gauge and regulator was't regulating very well.... Just don't want to see you get a gas leak... 🤐

I picked up my 50% done wheelwells this morning, washed the dust off and sat them in place for now. They need some sanding, priming, sanding then paint, but at least I have them here now. Debating on which color to paint them. Donovan suggested color match to exterior color, but I'm leaning towards semi gloss black. Also waiting on my radiator hold down to get back from powdercoating which will allow me to hang the fans and mark it off the list.

I'd say go black that way the engine is the focal point & not be washed with all the exterior color under the hood. Use it as a detail color on the small things that need to be a different color. Still like that exterior color.
That's exactly my plan, and almost verbatim what I just told my wife when she said they should be chrome lol. I want the attention on the engine, the crown jewel so to speak, not "oh dang those wheelwells are blinging" lol.

Agreed. I'm going to do whatever my firewall is. Satin black most likely. Are you going to knock off the weird 'bump' attachment points? I saw a guy on YouTube do it and it came out much cleaner looking. it's a lot of work though. What else is new !!!!

I smoothed mine several years ago, and yes it sucked learning how to plastic weld with a soldering gun. Patience, and more patience and they look good. Here are better pics...
