Have you looked at the air conditioning side even though you don't have it??? I thought second fan went on also when ac was turned on as that might be so for stock computer

As I posted yesterday, I'm anxiously waiting a sheet of CF to finish the trim panels. I went ahead and laid down the silver edge on the breadbox door, it'll get CF first likely.....

Then I got the shifter plate completely clearanced for the Hurst, holes drilled, old nasty adhesive cleaned off, and prepped for paint. Hopefully I can get a warm enough day soon to spray it, then get it done!!!

Annnnd here I go again. I got the breadbox door on, trimmed the shifter plate more to accommodate the Hurst bezel, then drilled the mounting holes. I got out the console lid, and yeah it needs some color coat! It's an aftermarket piece, but the black is off.
Anyhow, the console is pretty complete other than installing, and I'm super happy with it!

I bought the Monte console lid years ago from Mike's Monte's. It stayed boxed up until last night, then I realized crappy QC on this thing! The opening for the latch release button was not right, and was hitting. My OCD couldn't handle it, so I taped it up, trimmed it to look symmetrical, cleaned, then painted it to match the console. Once the paint cures I'll install it maybe, but I don't recall what screws to use. Any help on the screw info lemme know.

Well, that was WAY too much work to make the console lid fit!!!!! The plastic bracket was tweaked enough it needed some sanding in multiple areas and a few of the holes opened up some. I wish I would've noticed it when I got it years back...I would've returned it for a better one. Oh well, it's fixed and sits flush as it should, and the lid now matches the rest of it. If time permits I'll try to get this thing installed in the next couple days, then keep grinding along.

It’s looking fantastic Scott. Don’t get discouraged and give up hope. You’re on the home stretch now buddy!

Not sure if this is better or worse than working with worn out original parts? Regardless the pain is all too familiar.

If you'd have used Olds console parts, they would have fit. 🙂

Seriously, that's one of the biggest issues I have with most of the repro parts for interior. It's like they get them ALMOST good enough to fit, but then fall short on the finished product. I wouldn't mind spending a bit more on stuff like this if you could just pop it out of the box, paint it to your liking or whatever, and when you go to install it fits right up like the original. It's almost as if the Chinesium cannot be molded to the correct shape. I get the nuances of adjustment holes and what not, but you would think that 99% of it does not change dimensions from car to car. Get it right the first time so people will recommend your parts instead of making people choose between worn out parts and your new non-fitting- without-major-mods-junk.

But you persevered and made it work like it should. Looks great! And the CF touches make it blend nicely with the rest of the CF motif. Look at it like this, at least you don't have to tune the console!

I've only heard the stories of the repro Olds console lids like this. I do have one I bought as a "just in case" but the outer skin/shape, etc. is almost spot on to the original as far as looks. As far as fitment, I've never tried it.
