Great car and very nice pics! Thanks for posting. I've got a question for you regarding your hood hinges. Are they custom or off-the-shelf? Sorry if I missed that in your build, but I've been looking to change my original hood springs and these look very nice. Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott hooked me up with his fiberglass hood strut setup. I copied his deal and mine work perfectly. Lol, they are the most trick part of my car (it's somewhat of POS to look at haha) unlike Scott's attention to every detail.

Injectedcutty it's so great to see you getting to enjoy the car and have it work flawlessly. A well deserved congrats!!!

p.s. - if it shakes at 70, then drop the loud pedal - problem solved ;)

Ok guys -- you're twisting my arm! If it would not be much bother, can you be so kind and let me know what parts you used to make this work. I checked the site and they have literally thousands of parts. I know that my hood is heavier (it's the original metal one), but if I know where to start, then I can just choose similar struts for my application.

This would be much easier than starting from scratch. Once again -- only if it's not too much bother! Much appreciated for your info and suggestions.

Thanks!

This is what I had Cory get for his Monte. His are rated for 130lbs and they hold his bolt on steel cowl up with no problems. I'd think with a stock steel hood though the strength would probably need to be 140 or 150lbs. Thats just a guess though....

No problem, glad to help. On your hinges, the only modification needed is to drill out the rivet that holds the spring to the upper hinge. Replace with ball stud/nut and send it.

Thats what I do in the GTO, it literally shakes pretty much all in the 70s so its either 60 and below around town or over 80 sometimes well over on the highway

Time flies as usual, and I haven't been on here as much since I'm driving alot. I've been in the business of spending moola and getting geared up for winter upgrades. As of now the plan is as stated: yank the drums and upgrade to LS1 F body rears (have everything now), frame notch kit from southside machine to add some wider wheels/tires. Also going to new lower A arms and viking coilovers. If yall need parts, get with 80z performance, he's got the best prices!
I also took advantage of black Friday deals and ordered a multi process welder, bought a new helmet and other gear. I haven't welded anything in prolly 8 years so it should be interesting knocking the dust off lol. Enough chatter, here are some pics.....
