BUILD THREAD 87 Cutlass EFI build: 9/13/23..NEW STUFF!

From what we've been seeing here on the forum, if your car is a 20 footer then mine doesn't deserve to be on the road!
I think he means closer to a 16.6 footer...….. like, the length of the car...…. 🙂

The flaws were always there, the weather didn't do anything. Character marks, that's what they are. Every car has them, no matter how perfect you think it looks. It looks good. Don't know why you would think it doesn't. I'm waiting for the finale on this car!

scott, congrats on the house!

like others have said, that thing looks beautiful, no matter how you look at it!

The paint was done in January, but there are some bad decisions my bodyguy (didn't paint car) made that caused some problems once the car was baked at the paint shop. It sitting outside didn't help matters.
Honestly, the paint is gorgeous and super deep looking, I'm just a picky butt especially this being my 1st car.
Pull up a chair, It takes me a bit as parts/supply money doesn't flow as fast as I'd like it to. I started this resto in 2011. All that's left is engine/trans and associated and interior.

Darin, thanks on both accounts!!! The new pad is a long time coming. Long story short, we bought our 1st house in 2008, and unfortunately lost it in 2015 to foundation/serious mold issues!!!! Was gonna cost ALOT to fix, had contractors tell us to walk away too!!!! We lived in a rental just throwing money away the last 3 years.
PSA....don't buy houses in flood zones!!!

Thanks on the car, it's nice having it in the garage and accessible at all times. Progress should pick up as we've got the new place fairly organized, unboxed, etc from the move.

Scott don't sweat the process it's home now and so are you that's half the battle. It's been so long since I've touched my cars people probably think I got rid of them or don't remember what I have besides the truck. I'm waiting for your progress to give me the ich to get back to my 87

I know the feeling. Being home is likely PART of the cause for the non-urgency and you can get "behind" in your trek toward greatness. I don't mean that in a negative way, but now you have to prioritize getting all settled into the house and all, and even fixing up the garage is time spent away from the car project. It happens. So the car is right there under your nose, but since you don't have to trek miles away and try and get stuff done so you can GET it home. Now the urgency is not as great.

Trust me, it happens. Good thing is, when its quittin' time, you don't have to pack up and drive anywhere or feel the frustration of forgetting to bring stuff when it was at the remote location.

I was able to mess with the Cutlass this evening and tackle something I've been dreading for awhile. That is removing the EFI harness from the old engine to prep for the LS harness install. The sucky part is the old harness was neatly organized, taped, loomed in the engine bay but was a complete disaster inside the car!!!!! I still need to remove the 6AL box and a couple other items, but it's safe to say the LS can ve dropped in soon.

So, after a little bit of cussing and such I was able to get it done.

As some saw, I had some Nitto's mounted on my rear wheels yesterday. I measured a bunch to check for clearance, and boy do they just clear!!!! We all know how the right/wrong wheel can make/break a look, and I believe I nailed it this time!!! I should have the front wheels ready next week, so until then here are the rears. As a reminder, the wheels are American Racing 17x8 with 4.5" BS, and the rear tires are Nitto 255/45ZR17.

Just got all caught up on this build, very nice work! Makes me want more and more to get back to my cutlass and get things done. That is as soon as the wifes diesel cutlass is back up and going..
