Yep the heads are good to go. The gaskets I got are unfortunately not. Think it'll ruin the gaskets if I was to make the holes in them for the steam ports?

Gaskets are cheap. I have seen guys drill them.

Most guys get 400 gaskets to use to drill the heads.

I'm thinking this Saturday after work I'll be able to get the clutch and bellhousing and whatnot all bolted up to the back of the block and maybe get it in the car and start working on cutting a hole in my beautiful floor

Well finally got some work done. Got it into the shop yesterday. Ran to the local junkyard and grabbed some brackets and a fan off a k20. Got the clutch and trans shimmed and mounted to the engine, got the clutch pedal setup out of a 3rd Gen f-body mounted in the car. I had to cut the bend out of it to get it to clear the fuse block so I welded a piece of the old brake pedal and cut the bend. Hopefully today ill get the clutch master all mounted and the engine in the car and fired up!

Make sure you have the 400 balancer. I don't see the notch in yours in your pics but could be on the other side. 400s are external balance. A regular small block balancer will go on but that engine will likely get front bearing failure. They also have a weighted flex plate but your going with a standard trans.

Thanks for the info. I've got the balancer on it that came with the 400. It's got a notch underneath the mechanics wire if thats the one you mean. And I bought a balance plate to go with the standard setup. Hopefully it all works together well
