Picked up some sweet valve covers after a swap meet today. Not much progress other than that recently. My roller rockers and distributor came in this week. Hopefully going to get it built this week

Have you heard of the steam holes in the deck of the 400, and in 400 heads? I ask because my car had a 400 in it when I bought it. It had a pair of iron Bowtie heads on it, but the steam holes were not drilled in the heads. The motor wanted to run pretty warm. Some say the steam holes are needed and some say they aren't. I looked at the instructions for a set of Edelbrock aluminum heads, and they say to drill the steam holes. Do your own research, and maybe others will chime in. If I had stayed with the 400, I would have had the steam holes drilled in my heads.

Back in my roundy rounder days I ran sbc 406's and guy's would say they always run hot, well no steam holes was there issue and I never had a problem with mine running hot. I would make sure you have steam holes!

It looks like they already are drilled. Good deal.
