brennan you sly dog!!! now you are talking my L.A.nguage🙂 so is that all the front doghouse stuff in the truck? im gathering parts as we speak to make a "luxury sport aero"(being that i have 3 aero's,2 actually because the 86 is remaining "stock"😉)looking forward to your "rebuild".
Yea everything was in the bed of the truck when the pics were taken. The car is 100% complete minus the dash.

Good Morning MonteSS & all; I'm happy for ya, you now belong to the exclusive club. Did that spare back glass interest ya, I could call him & see if he still has it. My .02 cents on color, how about a pearl white? Take care Bob Jr.

I'm not too worried about the color but like I said if I was to paint it anytime soon it would the newer GM pearl white.

As far as the window I'm not too sure. I'd love to have a spare but I never find myself that far south and paying to ship would be a b*tch! I'm finding that not only is the window hard to find but the seal is even harder to find. The 2 years 86 and 87 DO NOT interchange and no one repops them due to low production numbers. Hopefully I don't ever have to remove the window or mess with the seal. Will make paint a lot harder though.

a bit off topic but have you thought about using your spare frame to put under your SS. I think you mentioned you were thinking about repairing the SS. That would b a nice project if you have the room

Nah too much work. I would basically have to cut the car in half at the B pillars. It would be cool to convert it to an aerocoupe tho lol

Greetings Mr. 83MonteSS & all;

I should mention that I'm North of you, but not by much, Southern Wisconsin. And the Car Craft Nat's will be near here next summer. You're going to have one fine automobile when that thing is back together. Best wishes, Bob Jr.

I was thinking you were in the Carolinas.....not sure why I thought that.

No real updates to the aero. We finally got it unloaded from the trailer. We had to use a backhoe since there isn't a front suspension. Basically we tied a chain to the front, lifted it and drove the trailer out from under it.

I have a company-can't think of the name-sending me samples for vinyl seat upholstery. It will cost me $500 through them which I figure is a lot cheaper than taking them in and having a shop do them. I started pulling the engine and transmission from the 83. Don't have a cherry picker so that stalled. The gauge panel and console panel both are gonna be sent out within the next week or so to be hydrodipped. I am also getting ready to pick up some steel for the frame boxing and notch. Once I get the bare frame boxed and notched progress should pick up pretty quick.

My dad is looking for a winter project so I may have the aerocoupe body in the garage getting work done. That way while my dad is doing his thing with the body I can be under it painting the floors and rolling the frame under it. That will definately speed things up. Stay tuned

I like the outcome to your situation - the humility of hard work. Keep up the progress reports. Harbor Fright has some deals on shop equipment right now...my folding engine hoist has survived 8 engine swaps in the six years since I bought it. Plus one truck cab lift...

Well I took advantage of the 54* December weather and got the body mount bolts out of the aerocoupe. I was very pleased with the fact that I only broke 2. One bolt head snapped off and another cage nut broke loose. All the others came right out and are so clean I could reuse them if needed. I should be able to lift the body as it sits since the section where the cage nut broke is actually broken off of the body. Weird since the car is so damn solid otherwise.

I also managed to drag the bare frame into the garage to start boxing and notching it. I got the rails tacked up but I ran out of welding wire. This little 110v mig was kicking serious *ss. Im using 1/8" steel for the frame rails. Decided to weld the frame extension I ordered in instead of just bolt it in like it's intended.
