Bi+C# Thread for the nit-picky old men

How about a dozen different threads by the same poster about essentially the same thing?

My car won't do a burnout.
Which intake for better burnouts?
Which cam for better burnouts?
Would a different transmission let me do burnouts better?
Is my carb too big to do a burnout?
What are the best gears for doing burnouts?

It really gets me that so many people are so concerned about doing burn outs and ONLY burnouts. Your mom's 4 cyl. mini van can do a burn out with a reverse drop and bald tires. What are you proving? More money than brains.

LOL... OK... For the Record...

Its actually "TH200-R4" and "3.73:1"

You mean TH200-4R right? At this point it's a legitimate question because I have always known it as the 200-4R, now im wondering if my whole life is a lie! I actually didnt even pick up on the 3.73:1 thing.

I found this quote on Wikipedia for what it's worth. I always known it the same as you too 83MONTE- TH200-4R. Here it is. "In 1980, for the 1981 model year, the 200-4R (sometimes called 200R4) was introduced for use in GM vehicles". I tell you, I like the 2004R better than my old TH400, not as strong but it's more efficient.

I've commonly seen TH200-4R, but I've also seen TH200R4 in the GM parts system.

Its very likely "TH200R4" or "200R4" because it visually breaks up the numbers when not using " - " example: "TH2004R" vs "200R4".... which is what I used initially.

Further nitpicking...
The "TH" stands for "Turbo-Hydramatic" and GM used the "4R" term to differentiate it from its earlier TH200 form.... The "4" being for four forward gears and "R" being for Reverse...
But really, who types out "Turbo-Hyrdramatic"??? ...there is a difference between nit-picking and ball-busting....

People who don't say thank you. It's free, not that much work and completely painless.

Mini rant; So I'm on another forum and there's quite a few local guys. One in particular, J, is a younger guy and I've helped him out a few times with his car. Mainly letting him use some of my tools/equipment. Last time it struck me that I didn't get a thank you. Maybe it's a small thing to fixate on but it kinda bugged me.
So fast-forward a few months and I'm on the board and there's a situation where a project car was purchased from member R, who's local, by K who lives about 250 miles away. K won't be able to come get the car for a few weeks. Seller, R, has moved and lost his storage so the car needs a temporary home. I PMd K that I had a tow dolly that I'd loan for the cause if he could get someone with a truck to tow it. Member A offers to tow it. Perfect! Out of the blue I get a text from J asking if he can use my dolly to get his car to the body shop. I let him know that it'd be okay but I don't normally loan it out. He shows up at my house with a borrowed truck but the truck's 7 pin doesn't match my dolly's 4 pin wiring. He decides plan B would be to borrow his mom's van. I tell him to just put it back where he found it when he's all done and I go back in the house. 3 hours later I get another text to the effect that since my wiring didn't match his cars I had really inconvenienced him and he just went and rented a trailer. WTF? I looked out my window and the dolly is still in my driveway. The wiring is all ****ed up and it's not put away behind my shop where I store it. And...there was no "thank you". I think I'm done helping J.
Now I get to go fix some wiring so we can get K's car moved. I think I'm remembering why I don't loan my stuff out.

I don't think I would be letting member J use my stuff either. How inconsiderate can some one be. You inconvenienced me BS, while f*cking up your trailer wiring. I would be pissed if some one did that to my stuff. I guess I must be a rare breed by saying thanks to some one that helped me. My mom also drilled that into me as a youngster.
