Honestly I'm not sure, I dont have a oil gauge or anything. If it's broken, it will be obvious. No micro cracks, there will be major cracks in the flexplate.
Do you still have good oil pressure?
Where are you located?
I'm in Toledo ohioHonestly I'm not sure, I dont have a oil gauge or anything.
Was everything toast after that, or were you able to save anything? My valves dont have the umbrella seals just the o-ring, would it be possible for the o-ring to shred like that and junk stuff up?Exact same thing happened to a Ford 302 that was in my FIL's Mustang. When I took it apart, the oil pump and all the crank journal oil passages were PACKED full of (turned out to be) valve stem seal material. First time I had seen black crank journals. Apparently, umbrella seals are only good for about 25 years
No I dont plan on starting it anymore, I just wanted to get the noises on video, If it fried I'm gonna go hunting for a 350. I got this one for next to nothing so I figured what the hell, it was a fun little improvement over the ragged out v6. I got a decent set of camel humps that came with ther 307, would those be enough for a 350 if I got just a short block?Don't be starting that engine anymore until you find out what's up.
I will add to my first post on this. Drain your oil an check for metal or brass, cut your oil filter open an check it.
Your engine stalled/seized that's why it took added power to get it to start. The knock is from crankshaft shifting/hitting or connecting rod doing the same. The squeal is metal on metal from lack of bearing.
To me it's toast if this is so, so it's either rebuild ( not a cheap thing being a 307) or threw another engine in it that's got some balls.
Oh an make sure you let us know what the issue is.
