Check your local parts stores, you might be able to pick some up cheaper. Just make sure you do NOT get self aligning ones. You just want the old standard kind that have been on SBC engines for decades.

when finding my new pushrod length using the checker, can I use my hydraulic lifters? or do I have to get solid lifters?

You should use a solid lifter but what has been done to the block or heads where you would need to check it? Don't get me wrong it is a good idea to check but if the heads and block don't have much taken off if any then a stock pushrod length will generally work.

that's the thing, im not totally sure whats been done to the block. Heads are stock, no machining done or anything but like i said, im not sure about the block.

Look to see if the suffix code is still on the front of the block behind where the alternator would go. If it's still there then the block hasn't been decked.

yeah so the suffix code is still there. Also, I used my push rod tool and found my new length to be 8.1". Everything seemed to go smoothly but does that sound weird? 8.1"? and I also noticed my rocker arms weren't sitting straight, here's a pic.

With aftermarket heads they have bigger ports. Sometimes they move the studs over a hair to clear the port. I know the bigger 215cc dart pro 1 heads are like that. I don't know about RHS. theres no guide plates, correct? You said you checked the pushrpd length and cam up with 8.100.... Did u try using stock length. I know with a flat tappet cam and edelbrock heads Ive used +.100 longer pushrods. just double check your length before you order pushrods. Valvetrain is very critical...correct geometry, lifter preload, etc.
