Needs to be for a 400 sbc stock would be externally balanced crank. Which i believe yours is seeing how internal balanced cranks cost alot more $$$. Flexplate also needs to be for 400 sbc

Ok. The machinist has a flexplate and a balancer he will throw in. As for as the block he said it will be ready tomorrow and it will have to be bored to .040. I also spoke to him about the beehive valve springs and he suggest I go with a 292/500 camshaft. As for as the piston goes is there a certain type that only work with the vortec heads?? Do the pistons have to be shaved????

As far as piston it all depends on what compression ratio you want. As long as it for a 400/.040 over with 5.7 rod. I personally like speed pro never had luck with KB piston broke a few of them. I just ordered the Comp 292h/501 lift cam in base circle cam today from CC direct it was $280 cam and lifters. You will again need a small base circle cam or clearence connecting rods as needed.

I called comp cams direct and ordered. Most base circle cams will have to be custom ordered from most manufactures.

A roller would really be so much more beneficial. Costly however.

I forgot what heads you are going to use but if they are iron then probably 9 to 1. If you have a good quench and timing maybe a tad more.
