Thx. I found the instructions to my piston rings. Heres what they say Check end gap..004" per 1" of bore diameter is the minimum. So I figured i needed to set my feeler gauge to .0016. .40 x .004=.0016 I slid the gauge into the ring gap but i had to apply a lil force for it to slide up and down...does this sound like i need to file the rings...if so whats the quickest way to do this..i would hate to spend 60 on a ring filer i would only use one time

Im having trouble coming up with the ring end gap. I need to know what is my bore??? 4.000 , 3.750 , or .040

i need to multiply my bore times the gap factor which is .004... someone help me

Your bore is(assuming it hasn't been bored) 4.125.

thx i got it my bore is 4.165... Well i had the pistons installed and the ring gap was right at .016. So i decided to remove the pistons buy a ring filer next week and take a lil off the rings in case I wanna shoot NOS in the future.. WIll this hurt my engine if im running a larger gap without NOS for right now?

Also I ended up breaking a piston ring so I guess ill be getting a new set as well.

Your ring gap is 4.165 times .004. But if you are going to use nos the ring gap should be opened up a little more i think I used .006 was recommended. Your gap should be around .024 for NOS.

Thanks. I gapped my top ring to .025 and the second to .019. Forgive me for the bad pics.

Looks like your doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

I just hope everything works out. I just appreciate all the help. Does anyone know what size bolts I will need to mount my engine to my engine stand? I think they are called bell housing bolts.

Thread size 3/8 -16 by how ever long you need to make it through arm on stand and about another 1/2 for treading into block. I think mine where 3/8-16 by 3" but every stAnd is different.
