you ordered standard bearings? http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance- ... Id=1216661

What's the +0.0X" clearance on them I wonder. When you order a replacement crank, does it come to standard size? Or do you need to measure it before ordering bearings?

... trying to learn this stuff

Seems like this block is a 4 bolt main
. Seems like or is if you cant tell the difference you should rethink even trying to build one. Thats almost like saying its a 400 but only has 6 cyl. You better do some research before getting in over your head.

I'm pretty sure the 400 could be identified whether or not it was a 4 bolt main just by looking to see if it has 3 freeze plugs per side vs the standard 2 freeze plugs.

If it is the engine in the picture on page one it shows 4 bolt main caps but appears the inner bolts arent there.

Ive done my research Im just in the process of getting all my parts together. I know the block is a 4 bolt main. Im actually missing the main cap bolts that make it a 4 bolt main so Im going to go with main studs..any suggestions?

Do these engines use timing chain tenisoners????

No they dont use a tensioner. If you want to go studs then just thumb through the ARP catalog and pick a set out.

X2 I always use ARP studs throughout just remember if you are going to use a windage tray to get the studs with the standoffs to mount it.

Am I required to use a windage tray? I didn't even know they existed til I googled it. Im still trying to decide whether to use ARP Studs or Bolts? Whats the pro and cons of using them

In my personal opinion for your application, either will work fine. I would go with whatever is cheapest. As long as your using quality, ARP, or GM. I am sure there are other brands but ARP always gets my dollar. No you don't need a windage tray unless you desire one. Again for your application I wouldn't worry about it.
