Jack, I totally agree. It's amazing how straight dad got the metal. He's pretty good with the hammer, dolly and slapping spoon. The damage was just too severe so that by the time he got it back into shape, he was actually hammering through the metal. Obviously he learned on that and could do better now.I agree with Kevin...it's really looking good, Jared.
From the outside, the quarter didn't look that bad, but the inside tells a different story.
There is definitely an art to metal working. Metal can easily become stretched and overworked. Your dad did the best he could with what he had to work with...and yes, he did get it pretty straight looking. Once everything is filled, blocked, primed, etc, you won't be able tell anything.
