Does anyone else find sunroofs useless?

I could see the panoramic roof being kinda cool. But as far as the "regular" sized sunroofs, I just don't get it.

My former boss had a Lincoln MKZ with the full retractable glass roof. It was a cool idea, but it really didn't open any more than a regular sunroof.

Maybe it’s just the layout of my car, but I can see out of my sunroof better than I can see traffic lights when I’m parked at most intersections.

Had one in my 99 Monte Z34. I had the shade closed most of the time because the sun would cook you and at -30 it would never warm up. At least it didn't leak.

I had sunroofs in my 92 and 98 VW's and loved that option. I did not have a moonroof, so even if closed it let a good amount of light in, and when it was warm, over 50, I opened it all the time. But it is not such a high need that I would have one installed in my Camaro or Cutlass. Both VW's had A/C but never used it.

I have a sunroof on my 250k mile Rainier and used to pop the back open during the summer on a nice day if the car is parked outside at work to keep it from getting super hot inside. But as far as opening up the entire thing not really. Popping open the back side helps suck air out and if its a bit chilly on a spring or fall day if you turn the heat on high at your feet it will pull the hot air over your face and it feels really nice. I do it with the t tops in my 4th gen and it is pretty nice.

That being said this fall the sunroof on my rainier broke and its not worth the $150 repair kit and time to drop the headliner and fix the clips that broke so I keep the shade closed and forget it exists.

If I remembered to use it I might but its one of those things I forget I have and dont use it.

I have owned a Challenger with and without the moon roof. I like the moon roof but I could live without it, some of the added options on the 2017 over the 2010 I would not live without like auto dimming headlights. It is a $1400 option on a new Challenger. A power moon roof is much more convenient than T tops.

When I bought my current '05 Sunfire the sunroof was stuck open. The dealer/mechanic claimed there was a "relay" up inside that was broken and not a big deal to fix. I knew that was wrong because my '99 had the same one and there was no "relay" up there. So what I did was cut $1000 off my offer and said I will take it as it is. They happily said YES and I took it home. What it was, was the shade rides on 4 little clips and 2 were broken, and the shade was jamming the glass mechanism. I fixed them with epoxy and swapped that one into my '99 and put the perfect '99 one in the '05. It took 1 day so I made $1000 in a day and later sold the '99 still working fine.
