And different distributor and lock up kit?
Yup, consider an Ebay distributor though if it is within budget, that's what I am running in the Regal.

It's not IF but when......many have gone down this path and regretted hacking up their car with an Edelbroke
Your right it could happen at anytime,,but it can happen with any carb,,,my main goal is to get away from quadrajet,,,I have nothing against anyone who uses them or swears buy them but to me they are junk and I have no use for them,,,,but that is my opinion.

People that say this don't take the time to understand them. You can lead a horse to water but the rest........

If Quadra-jets were junk, the factory wouldn't have used them for decades. That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

people say that cause the carb is a mystery to them. Once you learn how to work on them you'll have an informed and probably different opinion of a Quadrajet.
Maybe, but not me. I messed with one for a few years. Ended up putting a Holley on that was too big, made the engine bigger, then made the carb bigger again. Granted, I had a bunch of cobbled together junk. Now, I DO think that getting one (re)built for ~$300 is a much better option than even putting a FREE Edeljunk on. When they work, they work well. When they don't, they're a Pandora's box of carb voodoo.

A lock up kit is optional. You can run 12 volts through a toggle switch to the one wire coming off the electrical connection. The lock up only needs engaged at highway speeds to reduce slippage and heat. Around town, turn the toggle switch off.
