Hi, there are no relays in that unit, it is not a relay, it actually boosts the power going to the window motor. I wish I had a G-body, ever since I sold my great 69 GTO (A-body) I have wanted to get a hipo GM G-body, but funds are tight. I have been looking into getting a 3.8L GN drivetrain to put into a '63 Nova I have, but even the turbo motors are getting $$$ out of wrecks...

The maximum voltage depends on the current draw by the motor(s) being powered.

really?......this is from an electrical engineer..

"Voltage: When trying to match a supply to a device, you need to get the voltage right... if the supply voltage is too high, then it will damage your device. If the supply voltage is too low, then your device just won't work."

I like quick windows but I would be concerned about providing more power than the 30 year old motors can take and burning them out. The relays that speeded up my windows only give the windows the power coming from my battery

LOLOL Sorry to be vague, but the Window Turbo does indeed monitor current and modulate the voltage to keep from causing damage to motors or people's fingers, etc. The maximum voltage will not cause damage to motors or any other parts of the vehicle's wiring. There are zero reports of motor failure in many hundreds of these things installed.
I didn't get an answer to my query of how to private message, being a newbie to the forum, I'd like some help with that if you please. Cheers!

I want to add to my previous comment: it is not voltage alone that damages motors. The no-load voltage limitation is set by wire insulation, rpm and armature construction. In the case of these GM window motors they are happy and would have a long life at low loads with 30-40 volts. As you apparently know but for the benefit of others, Ohm's Law dictates a relationship between voltage, current and resistance: Voltage=Current X Resistance. In the case of a motor, it's resistance (impedance) varies depending on load, therefore the current through the motor is dependent on load as well. This means the voltage applied determines the current at any given load. This is why the best way to protect motors is through current limiting, not voltage limiting. I apologize if this is redundant to anyone or wordy, I figured there may be people who didn't understand the relationship.
