I only did one side with the lower gold stripe today. This was complicated for me to tape the 442. It took about 6 hours to tape it off, scuff, and mask it. After my last coat of base my air compressors electric motor shot out a flame and popped the breaker. I fiddled with it and tried again and it shot flame again. I still had to clear the stripes. I got a few coats on before I ran out of air. Had to take apart my gun and clean each part separately. So its a good thing I only did one side. Gonna take the motor to a shop Tuesday. I hate this Kobalt compressor.

A seriously sweet combination. Good call on the orange, now that it contrasts against the gold.

I like the plastic wrap. I have a truck in paint jail right now, and I wrapped the painted frame and axles up in industrial Saran wrap to keep the overspray and sanding dust to a minimum. Did you know that Campbell Hausfield is the world's largest manufacturer of air compressors? Notice I didn't say they were good air compressors...I think they make the compressors for Lowe's under the Kobalt name.

For the quality of your work, I'd wish an Ingersoll-Rand or Quincy upon you. Just can't seem to find my magic wand....

Thanks guys. I got the air compressors motor off and ready to take to shop tomorrow. I got the passengers side door parts installed including the window. New felt strip, outside handle, striker bolt, and inside handle. I did not want to scratch up my door jamb trying to find the permanent spot for the new striker. I used a 45 caliber casing and punched a hole in some construction paper. I slid in the striker and drew a line around it. I then cut it out with scissors. So its a scuff preventing washer for the striker. After I found the perfect spot with the door opening and closing, I marked around the striker with a grease pen. Removed the paper washer and bolted it back on. Its amazing how nice the latches and doors work with cleaned and re greased parts and a new striker bolt. The brand new Dorman outside door handle was the only thing that caused trouble. I had to open the hole up with my drill cause the rod end would not go through. I think it was the chrome plating making the hole too small. I also installed all new windshield and back glass plastic trim clips.

The air compressors electric motor has been a fiasco. I finally found a shop in Pryor Okla. (about 35 min drive) that repairs electric motors. They troubleshoot for free. He checked it and took it apart. My windings are burnt so I had to buy a brand new replacement. They had to order it so probably a few days till I can get it. This stupid little motor costs $300. I called a couple places in Tulsa and they were $335-up. Completely disgusted with this unforeseen cost.

I just had an old 60 gal 5 horse special (read about 3.5 horse) forget the brand, take a crap. I rebuilt the pump first, then the motor took a dump. Tractor supply has some decent replacement motors, but I got the OK and bought the 7.5 hp, 2 stage, 80 gallon IR from tractor supply on sale.
