Hello everyone! I was wondering if someone could help me with these parts. I’m not sure what they are! They are to the left of the thermostat housing. They seem to be two vertical plugs. Just not sure what they are and I can’t find anything in the book that resembles them. 3.8L 229 V6

Yes they are.
Thanks. I’m having a hell of a time trying to pass emissions, you wouldn’t by chance have any input on that would you? A few folks on here have given me some help, I’m taking anything I can get hahaha

Just curious, but, have you checked the timing? One of your issues is CO emission, which, with increased timing leading to better combustion cycle can make some decrease in CO emissions...

It’s been mentioned to me and I’m hoping to check that out tomorrow. I have really high CO & HC.

I saw your other thread but it seemed sparse on info. High CO and HC should point to a rich condition for what that's worth. High NOx would indicate a lean condition. Both stink, but they stink different. Also, wasn't your check engine light on?

Yeah the check engine light is on. I took it for emissions last year. Really high CO & HC, so I replaced 02, spark plugs, oil change and found an OBD1 scan read 12,13,21,35,45. I rebuilt the carb, put new throttle position sensor, and nothing changed on OBD1. Check engine light continued. So I ordered a new Catalytic, ripped the old one out which was hollow! So I thought the new Catalytic was gonna save the day. Slapped it in and took it in for emissions...FAILED again CO seemed to get worse. I can’t even get a waiver for repair because it’s considered a “dirty polluter” so that brings me to going through the system as much as I can without a lot of knowledge. I got a repair book and just trying to figure it out as best I can. After fixing a few little vacuum hoses the check engine light actually stayed off a lot longer than normal today! Hahaha so that’s where I’m at so far. After having the carb rebuilt I had it tested on a live engine and from what I was told it was running pretty great. The car starts up just fine. It don’t run bad at all, it don’t have any noises, it does have a little shake to it on occasion. No other lights go off. I did have the radiator rebuilt a few months back. Other than it not passing emissions it’s not a bad running car. I’d prefer to fix it properly rather than register it out of an area that don’t require emissions!

So what codes is it throwing?
13- Oxygen sensor signal fault-signal too low / open left oxygen sensor circuit (Dual sensor models)

12-Diagnostic mode; no distributor signal to Electronic Control Module; System PASS

21-Throttle position sensor (TPS) - signal voltage to high

35-Idle air control (IAC) system problems - can not set desired RPM or idle speed actuator (ISA) carbureted system problems

45-Rich exhaust indicated (Left side on dual oxygen models)
