hooked up

it's working!!! 😀 put the QA1 shocks on yesterday, set the adjuster at 3
the shocks that were on it were worn out, very little compression by hand, the car felt light on the road at 65.... got down on it at the house, stalled to 2200 rpm and let it fly!!!!!the front end came up at a slower rate ,the left went a little higher but not off the ground.... my wife said she has not seen the car move as fast 😀 ... in the car it felt like the steering was light to the touch and the car was moving around a little,i shut it off in first gear and took a look at my tracks and was suprised that the tracks were almost straight  ,please take a look and give me some input, i ordered some 50/50 lakewood shocks for the rear...can't wait to get them on and lower that rear bar and hang on 😀[/img]

in the first picture I hope those patches are coming towards us ...lol

they look great, did you warm up the tires beforehand? And can you tell if the tire are need more or less pressure with the tacks your tires leave. The edges of your tire and the middle leave the most rubber on the road.

TexasT...thanks.....

🙂

hooked up

yeah! with my limited computer skills i loaded them backwards, it looked to me that the tires need just a little less pressure... and no burn out,but the tires were driven about 15 miles from my friends house... so they weren't cold......jesse

pontiacgp, You did not bother me at all.

I was trying to keep the post on track and you seemed to be going in another direction that's all.

That's why I typed "Maybe I misunderstood".

So bother away.

Jesse, to me looks like you need more pressure , but you are close.

I would not spend alot on time on it until you get to the track, car will react completely different.

Have someone go to the line with you and look at the patches you leave.

You did mean "raise" the lower bar not lower, correct?

The QA1 are single adjustible?

hooked up

yes i did mean raise the lower bar 😳 can you tell me why the tires have a line in the middle, the pressure is at 20 psi

the part number on the QA1's is tc1914p which i think is single adjustable
i set them at three clicks just to see what would happen and was pleased to see that the front end was not so violent at wot

does single adjustable mean you add pressure to lift and rebound at the same time?
just playing with them at 12 clicks i could not move them!

shotgun thanks for the link,i now understand that raising the lower bar i'am moving the ic foward and lower on the cg...is this right?
have you got any pics or video's of your car,i 'd love to hear what your motor sounds like!!!

What tires are they?

Your shock are single adjustible, one knob.

They are not the best for the front, but as you found out , they are better then what you had.

Yes, you are making the shock softer or harder on both rebound and compression.

I am in the process of pulling my Comp 3 ways and installing QA1 double adjustibles (2 knobs). One knob for compression (down) , one for rebound (up).

This allows adjustment of rise and fall seperately.

It will hopefully allow me to load the tire quicly without going straight up and slowly settle keeping the back tires loaded longer.

You will see in the video why I am putting them in!!!

Even with the 1.46 60' run, the tires are slipping 5' out, you can really see it on the last run.

Remember this is a "stock" style suspension, no sway or anti-roll bar.

I doubt they will improve my 60 much, put will make launching less "exciting".

thats a great car you've got there,real nice videos....wish i could hit the 10z
is there a lot of gbody cars at your track? there's only one or two at my track and they come in on trailers...not street cars
my tires are 28-11.5-15 mickey et streets not raidals...

my car was twisting harder than yours because of the t-tops,and worn out shocks...the right rear was hitting the tire i had to roll the fender

the anti-roll bar fixed that,do you think i should up click the left front to see if it'l lkeep the front end flat?
got any pic's of your set up? are you using bags?

you lucky dog!!!wish my budget could afford the good stuff 😀 ...jesse

shotgun....I edited my post...thanks...

Jesse...as far as tire pressures have you checked the pressure directly after your run?....another thing are you running air or nitrogen in your tires? If you have a heat gage you can check across your tires and the difference in heat will tell you if the pressure is too high or low...and you might want to take a look at this link to give you an idea on what pressure is recomended...

http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/tech.php?bulletin=s3

and with your t-tops you might want to really consider boxing the frame between the front clip and the rear..that'll stiffen up your car and take some time off your run and it's not that bad of a job to do..

thanks for the link, before i bought my tires i did a lot of research and followed there guides lines to work out the break in and pressure,i'll have to say that bfg don't give out any info on there tires or i couldn't find any, so that was one reason to buy the mickeys....jesse

Jesse, I pretty much go to only Pontiac events.

I can usually count the Gbodies on one hand but have noticed they are slowly catching on with the Pontiac crowd.

Good headers for a Pontiac in a gbody are tuff to come by.

Here is a shot of the rear suspension, the "custom/homemade" bar was
not on it in the videos.

I want to try it with the bar but think old man winter has set in, kinda bummed, just want "one more run".

It is really basic, using all "stock" mounting points.

I put in a rollbar so that's why I twist less. Also the car has every Gbody brace I could find and I added a few of my own.

Did you ever measure your front end lift?

As you see I have one air bag, not going to remove it until I see how my "custom" bar works. May just leave it as a tuning aid.

One extra click would not be a bad idea.

Again, don't invest too much time in it until your at the track.

As far as my budget, you would be surprised if I told you what I have in the car.

I have parted a few race cars and saved the parts I wanted.

The car you see in the video is free after I add up what I sold off it.

My GP is also "free", sold the motor for more then I bought the car for.

Not one part of the front and rear suspension is new.
