for anyone that hasnt realized it yet, i am poor... break my back working 65 hours a week as a forman at a paving company just to be broke on pay day... but now to the "build", if you can even call it that... Being as i am broke, and can not afford any decent "high performance parts", my "build" will be done by buying the most inexpensive parts i can find... yupp, this is an ebay build... grab your soda pop n popcorn, sit back and try not to laugh to hard as i fumble my way through "building" my 82 mcss... oh, have i mentioned i have no training in mechanical anything... never done body work either, but thats why this should be entertaining... HERES MY PLANS, pull the 350, make her a 383... ebay has "kits from $650-$2000... not sure what this entails yet, but i think i might be able to bust my knuckels and mother **** my way through this... new carb possibly an edelbrock 600 - 750, keeping my edelbrock mid-rise intake just going to sand blast her, new rotating assembly to take her from 350-383, possibly new heads 64cc, and of course install the $1300 in chrome SKIP WHITE parts(she gotta look pretty too)... also fix the ONLY spot of rot, new patch panel... THE ONLY PART THAT IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE PURCHASED FROM EBAY IS THE PATCH PANEL, BESIDES GBODY PARTS HAD THE NICEST ONE AND THE LOWEST PRICE... $65 FOR A BEHIND THE WHEEL PATCH... i do have an incredible mechanic at my disposal FOR A PRICE $$$$$ if i absolutely need him, and i also have an even more incredible body guy...
THIS WILL BE THE FIRST THING FIXED

I guess "broke" is a relative term...when I was broke the vehicle I travelled in was called a bus and it was lucky I liked peanut butter sandwiches
 
if the quarter panel looks like that, i have to assume the rear frame rail is the same way

no, the frame is MINT, thats why i bought the car...

there is drainage hole a few inches back from the wheel opening that usually gets plugged from debris and dirt. Water accumulates there and rusts the quarter panel in that location

INCOME TAX MONEY MAKES ME NOT BROKE FOR A FEW WEEKS... :rofl: a little over 6 grand, minus $1300 i still owe on a loan, minus $1750 to pay the rest of my rent for january, and february's rent... leaves a little over $3000... plus my normal income every week... Also, MINUS how ever much the wife needs to keep her from bitching about me "spending money we dont need to spend"...
 
Nothing wrong with building on a budget. I did and it turned out nice, not a race car but then I wasn't trying to build a race car. Just something nice looking and fun to drive. You can save a lot by doing what you can yourself and put that labor savings into parts. I did everything on mine. (except the engine machine work) Even built the rear end and had never done it before. You can find really good instructions in the factory GM service manuals to do most things.

No shame being poor, my whole life has been on the cheap. It's not what you have, it's what you do with it. Thus, I am a welder, body man, electrician, painter, grease monkey, diagnostician, plasterer, plumber, landscaper, carpenter, glazier, engine re-builder, exhaust fabricator, and anything else I'd rather do myself than pay someone else. My advice is, buy the tools and learn how to do stuff, you get satisfaction and grow as a person.
