I also looked for an 8.8 flange yoke but couldn’t find a mustang that someone grabbed the engine and trans out of, so I could just grab the yoke 😂... oh well.
If you’ve got a puller, grab one from a v6 Ranger. They’ve got the larger flange used in the high hp mustangs for larger u joints.

will that work on the smaller mustang pinion flange? I didn’t think I could.

i think I’ll have to eventually go this route when I change out the 28 spline 2.73 to go 31 spline 3.73 from an Exploder.

Me and my favorite reciprocating saw made a trip to the junkyard yesterday to get more goodies. $16 out the door for everything. The lady at the register didn’t see the 7 flex fuel injectors so she didn’t charge me for them. I’ll count that as a win. I needed more because I’m decapping them and sending them off to find the closest of the 15.

I saw a big block ford truck that had some exhaust that looked about 3”ID— Only $2/ft. I will cut it up and make downpipe/dump tube

The flange yoke from a Ranger won’t fit the small mustang pinion flange. 3x3 vs 2.5x2.5 square bolt pattern.
I mentioned it because it’s far cheaper to get one from a yard as apposed to buying one new at $90, and you’re not shelling out $140 for a Spicer 1330 series flange yoke for the small bolt pattern. But you’ll have to go straight to a 1350 flange yoke with the large ranger pinion flange, no one makes a 1330 yoke in the large bolt pattern.

yeah this is something I’ve been mulling over. I dont have to sit and wait to drive this car over this issue. I don’t want get a driveshaft cut for the 7.5 in it now, then have to turnaround and get it cut for the 8.8 when I convert it all to 31, which would have the large flange.

What I kinda want to do is see if I can do a 1350 to 1330 conversion ujoint for the small pinion, then just pull the conversion joint out and go straight 1350 when I swap spines/carriers/gears/etc. That joint has to be cheaper than getting the end cut off and swapped out + rebalanced.

$100 later, this is coming home with me. Guy was cool and had a lot of cool cars.. haven’t seen a 1970 Pontiac Ventura before. He had one, and that is an amazing looking car..
