Following a fresh build and before the test drive:

Torque lug nuts!
Torque lug nuts!!
Torque lug nuts!!!

You only have to lose a wheel once with a Turbo Buick full of friends doing 80km.
Funny you mentioned that. On my maiden voyage when I had the 355 up and running before it died I was going slow and heard my sister yelling!!!!
Turned out my back pass wheel was wobbling as we forgot to tighten the lugs all the way!!!!! Luckily, the crisis was averted.

Everyone needs atleast one good fire extinguisher, don't go with cheap tools cause they will break when you can't replace them (Sunday night), keep hazardous thing out of reach of the junior mechanics, have the right jack & jack stands, you can never have enough wheel chocks.

Always keep shop supplies stocked, nothing worse than going to grab something you need right now to find out you ran out last time.

Personal rule....I don't care what the office wants/who is calling, I'm not walking away from a job in progress until any un-tightened fasteners are tightened.
